I've had OCD symptoms since I was about 11. Throughout high schoolit nearly drove me crazy and eventually led to some self harm related compulsions. I didn't ever know that I had OCD though, and I would get really depressed whenever I tried to stop all of my OCD behavior and failed. It wasn't till my sophomore year of college, when my symptoms had gotten really bad that I was reading something online and it made me think, "oh my gosh, what if I have OCD?" And I did some research and determined that I definitely was suffering from this. I cried I was so relieved to actually have an explanation for something that had so long been a part of my everyday life. I've been doing better lately, but I still have to do everything in 4's and 8's, sometimes I just find myself counting over and over again in my head and I won't be able to stop for fear that something really bad will happen to me and my family. And anytime I say goodbye to my family I have to whisper this goodbye speech in a multiple of 4 or 8 or else I go crazy afterward obsessing about bad things. But I've never told any of my friends or family. I'm not really sure how that conversation would go. I don't think my parents are really the type to understand that OCD is a real issue, or that I kept it from them for nearly ten years. But sometimes I feel really alone with it.

I have OCD, pure O which means I think word crazy and sometimes scary thoughts all day. I hate it, I've been living with it for a while and it still hurts. Couple that with severe anxiety , no family support and schizo fears that's me all wrapped up in a bow. I'm a wreck, I'm getting treatment, but I feel worse. Anywho I guess I just need a little support some positive reinforcements that I'm not going schizo and I'm going to be OK...

Mine is pure-o too. It sucks. I'm a religious person, but went for years feeling like a damned soul, constantly thinking I was guilty of things. I would pray almost constantly. The only thing that has really helped me is reducing/avoiding triggers, taking prozac, and tryingnot to turn everything inward. I have heard inositol can help too, but I didn't try a high enough dose. I hope this helps, at least you're not alone :-)

Does anyone feel so alone that people around seem to have functioning brains while yours sucks? And feel less of a person cause of the multiple mental illnesses you have?

I have Pure O it constantly feels like as soon as I get over one obsession another one pops up. I feel like OCD is basically becoming my whole identity and it's so hard to fight because I feel like I HAVE to think about those thoughts and find a conclusions/resolution for them and when I can't find one it kills me. When I constantly think about a thought I sometimes physically feel a pressure in my head because it's all I've been thinking about all day.

@samwisegamgee That's really rough! I can really relate to your story, especially getting trapped in the spiral of OCD thoughts and feeling like they're taking over your identity.

Try to remember though that it's merely your brain being a scumbag and tricking you into obsessing and worrying about things. You are you and you are not your obsessions! You are a wonderful human being and your OCD does not define you.

i'm really new to this site, but i'm happy that theres a section for ocd, it'll help to get this off my chest

ok, so like, a good 60% of my intrusive thoughts revolve around alcohol, i'm terrified at the idea of being intoxicated, and i feel like if i so much as touch the stuff something horrible will happen.

it wasnt much of a problem (only my mum was over 18, and plus, the only stuff my mum drank was like, the odd cider and stuff like that) until now. See, my sister just turned 18, and now that she's actually old enough to buy alcohol, it's become a real obstruction, she's going through the 'just turned 18' alcohol spell.

i can hardly stand looking at the vodka bottles and stuff whenever i open the fridge i get all these intrusive thoughts about just chugging the whole thing down and giving myself alcohol poisoning, or smashing the glass against my head, to be frank, it really bums me out????

and i hate how much she drinks, its so stupid of her to drink so much,, ESPECIALLY when we're home alone, leaving me as the most responsible one, i cant handle that responsibility?

This is my first post to this forum. Usually I'm a listener on here but today I found something out which honestly relieved me. I found out that I had suffered with OCD in the past. I had honestly had no idea what was going on, or why I was doing things so badly or why just life wouldn't improve. My OCD was actually bad enough that I used to overthink things to the extent I suffered with neck pains. The middle of 2013 was when the neck pains were at their worst but fortunetly I was in a happy enough stage of my life then. It was in 2012 when they had begun and in 2014 when they had stopped. Since late 2013 I began to make steps to tackle it, this was done through writing and forcing myself to be less fussy. I am still not 100% cured but I would say I'm around 70% of the way there, I know I am a particular person so in some ways I will always have a little bit of OCD, but the good news is that I'm getting better all the time and hope that this continues. I do feel though I lost out on my first two years of university because of this though. I developed my OCD through all the changes that were taking place which were adapting to college life, moving away from home and all the other changes occuring in my life. So right now I am also trying to accept the past and in the last 2 and a half months I have made great progress. I hope this progress will continue as well :)

I have retroactive jealousy, a form of ocd and generalised ocd.

I can't handle knowing details of my partners sexual past and if I'm told something it plays on a loop in my head and I see images videos etc of what I'm told. It's gets so bad I feel suicidal to escape the thoughts.

Also I do checks(doors windows, pets cage , car etc) that's annoying but I can cope.

I have intrusive thoughts that are inbedded into mybrain and I for some reason believe them even if I'm told otherwise I have to have proof and overthink it until I find proof or a solution

I only just found out that what I have is ocd and I'm on citalopram and trying to get help too

Ocd feels like it's taking over my life. I hate the thoughts and images and self torture :(
