OCD community - Get it off your chest, spew, blurt it out here!
I have OCD. If I'm walking by a computer or a peice of paper and I see a mistake, I have to correct it. If it's misspelled or not punctuated properly, I have to fix it.
I have OCD and my school was doing a punch card thing and I got the first three, but another teacher skipped 4 and went straight to 5 and when I asked her why, she said it was because she was assigned 5&6. I tried to calm down and talk deep breaths, but she teasingly said "what, your OCD?" And she laughed with the rest of the class.
I have OCD, followed with BFRB's, such as hair pulling and skin picking. I count everything in 5's, I tap like crazy, I walk back and forth. They call us crazy, but it makes us awesome. :p
My mom thinks I am becoming "obsessed" with 7cupsoftea. Everything I do, my family blames my OCD instead of just letting it be me.
This was a great idea to get things of your chest because it is really nice just to spew :)
It's so great to have people who understand what it means to have ocd man! I feel like no one understands. I have suicidal ocd meaning everything I see i can think of ways to use it to hurt myself. Not sure if anyone else has it? I feel that ocd"evolves" so at different times I will experience different kind of ocd like fear of contamination, checking etc
Hi I have ocd too. Is it normal for ocd to "evolve" like for one to have a variety of ocd symptoms
Anyone here who has ocd is undergoing psychotherapy? I saw a psychologist for 4 sessions and she said she couldn't handle me so she referred me to her boss.. Idk if I shd go because I'm skeptical about whether It works and in my country it is close to $100 for one session, so cost is a concern too.
It is a good idea to do a trial session with a psychologist/psychiatrist before you choose, if you are scared of the risk intaking on a new one.The relationship you have with a psychiatrist is key to it working out and helping you.
It is absolutely fine to go "shopping" for a health professional that works well with you.If the new psychiatrist does not let you come in for a Q&A for you to get a feel for them, chances are they are not the type of psychiatrist worth staying with.
Some good scripts/guides/adviceI've found:

To reiterate one of the sentiments in those blogposts, if you have a weird feeling about the psychologist after meeting them in person, if at all they make you feel uncomfortable, then I would recommend seeking a different one. Psychologist-client relationships is one thing I think just clicks or it doesn't.
As well, are there any lower cost options in your area? Even if the average psychologist is private and therefore costly, there may be some community services or even government subsidies that help with a lower cost service. (Tbh my best experience has not been with a psychiatrist--I had a whole mental health team once--but with an average counselor at a public youth health clinic.)
Hello,
I suffer my OCD. I always have the feeling the something bad going to happen andunfortunately, I've been right lately. I wake up with positive attitude but through out the day horrible things seem creep up in my mind. I'm very loud and try to social with everyone cause it makes me feel better, to know theres people around. I am afraid to be alone. Thats when I get the worst thoughts. I try everyday to be happy and put on a smile but it does not help what i am going through mentally
I also struggle with this form of OCD, I know it as "harming type". Sometimes I feel as though OCD is one of the most easily accepted disorders, most people shrug it off as "just quirky". If I say I have OCD, people assume I'm a hand washer, or fixated on organization, and move on. But I don't think they would be nearly as accepting if they comprehended the hideous images my mind can bombard me with. It is so hard to convey that I don't WANT to hurt any one. There is nothing I desire less, I have no desire to do that. But I THINK I am going to. And that is where my personal hell exists. I also have bipolar II, and in God's honest truth, I would rather face mania or depression than have my OCD flare up.
Hi .I struggle with a untreatable form of OcD. I could really do with chatting
Hey, what's up?
Um, hey. I was wondering if someone could help me? I have a ton of OCD symptoms that drive me nuts and interfere with my life, but I of all my symptoms I don't have checking symptoms. I don't feel compelled to get out of bed to make sure I locked the door, or turned off the oven, and I don't obsess about it. And because I don't feel compelled to check constantly or do things until it feels "just right," it makes me feel like what I AM experiencing is invalidated. I'm on the fence about going to a therapist because the symptoms I do experience are driving me nuts.
Hey Marian, There are 5 kinds of ocd, so doesn't mean you don't hv the typical checking symptoms you don't have ocd. It's better to get whatever you're facing checked by a professional. I also don't hv the checking symptom. I hvpure-o, and my thoughts are like everything I see ard me I can think of a way to use to hurt myself even though I don't wish to.
