TW: pocd, false memories

I have a few false memories about hurting a child 3 years ago in 2 different days. One day, I barely remember what happened so I only have fears I did something wrong, not actual visual false memories. The second day is filled with visual false memories.

My question is, would she still have liked me if I did in fact hurt her?? (she was 8-9 at the time) because I know she did like me (due to multiple events where she expressed her fondness of me and I have written of her sister/my friend that she liked me and still asks about me to her sister after all this time)

Hi there, we're so happy you found our site :-). I can't answer your question, because children may react in many different ways to harm. I don't know this child, but you do, and it appears that you've left a good impression on her. Whether or not you hurt her is not something you can change, but you can talk to someone about how this has affected you. Clearly, your false memories have impacted you emotionally, but your POCD is not your fault. POCD is not something you have to struggle with alone, and with professional help, I believe that you can work through these memories and the relationship you have with this girl. We are also happy to help you, please let us know if there is any other way for to support you :-)
