@QuietMagic, 1. How are you feeling today?
I am afraid to sleep in my bed, but I am going to anyway. This morning I found a huge roach in my bedroom. I tried to trap it so I could throw it outside. I didn’t want to smash it because a bug of that size would have made quite a mess. I couldn’t catch it and guess where it ran. Guess. Yep. It ran onto my bed. ONTO MY BED. I had to leave for work. I was running out of time, so I left. When I came home I tore apart my bed and my bedroom and sprayed poison on the bedframe, the box springs, and around the floor in the bedroom. I didn’t find the roach, so it could be in my bed. I have a bug problem in this apartment. The poison has helped immensely, but I live in a state that has a bug problem. So, until I can move away from here, I’m stuck dealing with it. But tonight, I am going to sleep with a handkerchief tied behind my head and covering my face, just in case that ugly thing wants to crawl on me.
How is the weather at your place?
It’s hot and steamy of course. I think I’m being prepped for hell, living in this state.
How is your week going?
It’s been rough, and for me, that is saying something.
OMG!!!! I would have to move to another house!!!
It sounds like we probably live in the same state!!! Lol
@kindTurtle3738, does it end in an A?
@purpleTree4652
yes
@purpleTree4652
Oh gosh... why'd it have to go onto your bed when there were so many other places it could have gone... and when you were going through the trouble of trying to save it.
Glad you have the handkerchief so that you don't have to worry about your face.
I laughed at the comment that you're being prepped for hell. I guess between the weather and the bugs it's not too far off.
@QuietMagic, I know, right? The dang thing was just sitting on my sheets staring at me. It was like, 'nah, nah, nah, nah, nah, nah. you can't catch me.'
It had another sleepless night spent distracting myself from almost any thought I had… it seems they are all too painful to think about now. I was very stressed out. Overwhelmed. It felt like everything that could go wrong did go wrong. What was even left to care about? But then I chatted with an awesome listener on 7 cups and I am still amazed at how they helped me change my perspective. They accepted me for exactly where I was at and that made me feel safe enough to step out my comfort zone. ( like it was even comfortable!!!!) I was no longer as lonely. I smiled a real smile. And then I slept. It was the first decent sleep in a year at least. That helped me realize how important it is to not discount how I feel. Burying them wont work cause they find a way out and sometimes come back with a vengeance. We all need emotional maintenance. I recommence chatting with an empathetic listener . You may chat with a few listeners before you find one that’s a good fit for you. Don’t give up.
@kindTurtle3738
Wow, that sounds like a really powerful experience. I'm so glad you were able to find that person where you felt safe/comfortable exploring things and you were able to do that emotional maintenance that you really needed.
And that sounds like a big deal being able to sleep restfully for the first time in a year!
That listener was you!!! ❤️
1. I'm feeling.. Mildly normal today. I took today to rest after being in a a lot of physical pain and don't feel extremely guilty about it, so I view that as a positive.
2. The weather is unbearably hot and I'm tired of it
3. I haven't been great this week. My job is hard on my body and I keep getting rejected after interviews and it makes me feel bad about myself even though I try not to let it.
@selfdisciplinedBunny232
Aw, sorry about the job interviews. Glad you were able to rest. I'm imagining there's some point where it feels like "I'm in a ton of pain and I really need to do this" and there isn't as much resistance.
I'm used to beating myself up about it whenever I have to take time to rest and feeling guilty about the things I'm not doing so it was nice to be able to actually focus on reading for a change
Check-in status: Hi, I’m Ros. I’m new here. I’m struggling greatly just trying to be a functioning adult human. I’m made of a special recipe of genetic mental failings plus my own trauma-based issues. I feel like my existence is a cruel joke, and I’m just here for some hope. 🤙🏼
@daintydino29
Hi Ros, welcome. I can understand how that would feel like a cruel joke, to have that sort of mind and trauma and then to have to try to pretend to be functioning normally.
I hope you're able to find what you're looking for here. In addition to the forums, 7 Cups also has 1-on-1 chats with listeners and group chatrooms.
