@QuietMagic hello magic how are you! <3

How has your week been?: it's been pretty just. mediocre. it's been bad, it's been okay, it's been just. a week. just one of the weeks out of the many in my life. nothing special.

What is something new you've learned or mastered within the past year?: definitely how to be nicer to people i'd say. and admitting my emotions without letting toxic masculinity getting in the way.

@f1nd3rzk33p3rz

I'm doing good, thanks! Sounds like an unspectacular, forgettable week of drudgery, haha. Glad it hasn't been awful at least. 😊

Being able to be gentler and allowing feelings to exist sounds like a nice evolution. 💜

My week has been up and down. My meds are up to 100mg a night hopefully they work better. Trying to self help myself and I'm doing mental health groups on zoom therapy to. But, I cant deal with people out of my house.

What I learned is not to try to control people places things. Just let it be and walk away and give it to God. Sometimes I forget and get myself into rages then everything starts up for me. I can't be going that anymore. Other then that , today so far, I'm fine.

@alleywood13

I hope all of those different things together are helpful (increased meds, self-help, zoom mental health groups, therapy). What's been happening with the people out of your house, if you feel like sharing?

That sounds helpful to now have letting go as a possible option--and also being able to notice this pattern where if you don't do that, things tend to feel a lot worse and everything goes pretty differently. 💜

The people outside,to me are to much. This world has gone crazy and I start to freak out in my head and get panic attacks. I do go out to run errands and take care of stuff and my son and family but other then that I coop myself inside.

@alleywood13

That makes sense. 💜 You're able to go out to do a handful of things that you need to do for yourself and your family, but otherwise the world feels pretty overwhelming, causes panic, etc. so it feels a lot easier to stay inside.

Yes I feel I must protect my family.

I feel that something big is going to happen soon. I freak out to much out there without a plan. I never use to be this way. Late 90's I started getting weird like this.

@alleywood13

That's really noble to feel like, "This is difficult but I need to do this for the sake of my family so I'll tolerate it since it's necessary."

Have you been able to find any resources that have some tips for dealing with going outside? Or are there things that you find help a bit when you have to do that?

@QuietMagic, hi, Magic!

1. How has your week been?

my week has been bumpy, as usual, but I am handling everything that came my way

2. What is something new you've learned or mastered within the past year?
how to do my job, since I just started the job within the last year, and never did this type of job before in my life

@purpleTree4652

Hello! Yeah, I guess bumpy is the norm, but glad that you've been able to manage everything. 😊 That's definitely an accomplishment to go into a completely new line of work and gradually get to the point of being able to do it pretty consistently.

@QuietMagic and all, Hi (shyly).

If anyone (anyone!) knows anyone that I know, please reach out to them and tell them to actually walk over here and give me a real true hug, like in life true hug. I need some hugs, guys. I need some sort of proof that someone cares about me, or cares if I take care of me or not! I guess maybe that sounds overly extreme; I don't mean it that way. I just miss having hugs and I miss being near my family and friends. Especially my family recently as they, all 6, in the last month have been really very sick at some point of January. I miss them a lot.

I am sure thankful for my SST. She's learning more and more - in part that snuggling is okay, kisses are okay (well that she knows), and having me just hold her and hug her - that that is okay, too. I might not be so much okay, but she is. aka not have to be scared. Thank you, community of us <3 ttyl, Platy

(also here's a hug for you! if you need/want one) (((Hug! Hug!))) or two hehe

@cyanPlatypus6370

Aw, Platy 😟 I wish I were able to give real hugs to people on here instead of just virtual ones. 💜

That sounds so lonely not being able to be with family and friends, and I hope all of the family members who have been very sick are feeling better or recovering.

Forgive my ignorance--what does SST stand for? (Whatever it is, if it provides hugs/kisses/snuggles, it sounds amazing. 🥺)

Have not had much positive progress since November. Prior to that, I was experiencing stronger resolve in bettering myself, practicing emotional autonomy, and self reliance. However, it's really been a struggle lately. And I often succumb to severe depression. It's difficult because I don't have anyone in my life. After living with my partner and son for 14 years. Now, no one. Occasionally I'll see my son one evening a week. But I've had severe lack of self esteem in terms of dating and going out into the world. I still love my ex partner, but she doesn't want me. And the pain of loneliness is affecting my whole "self sufficiency" focus. It's just... very difficult. ❤️‍🩹 Sorry to vent like this.

@Aqua79

Hi, that makes a lot of sense what you're describing. 💜

  • Before November, you were really feeling motivated and trying/succeeding at various goals (e.g. bettering yourself, being self-sufficient).
  • Since then, it's become really hard to maintain that focus because of severe depression as a result of feeling very lonely (e.g. having nobody around you most of the time after living with your partner/son for 14 years [that's a big change!], not feeling confident about finding someone new to date)

Can see how it's sort of like, "I want to be self-reliant, but it's slipping because I feel lonely, and I can't fix the loneliness."

Just passing along a post that has some tips/info related to loneliness.
