Hiya!
I have OCPD, and this week I has to self isolate for a symptomatic COVID infections. I wasn’t able to act on a lot of my compulsions to clean and organize in order to keep my housemates safe.
Really, I’m okay with it though, and it’s not distressing, so I’m pretty proud of myself! :)
@FernWhispers
Hello! I hope your COVID symptoms aren't too bad and that you get healthy soon. ❤️
It's kind of you to do what you can to protect your roommates and keep them safe. I'd feel proud too if I were you! I'm glad it's felt okay and not too distressing.
By the way, I looked at your profile and it's amazing how diligent you are and how many trainings you've been able to complete in just a few days. 😊
Hi @QuietMagic
It's been a struggle recently. I'm not sure if this is related to BPD in my situation, but the whole attachment wound/struggle with endings has been at play lately.
But I guess a success is that I'm still hanging in there despite the intense emotional pain it can bring. I started using a cute self-care related app a little while back called Finch (I hope that's okay to mention) that has been a useful (and not to mention ADORABLE) tool. I've also been taking some time watch enjoyable TV show episodes and playing games on my phone. They might be distractions but I feel we all deserve to do things that we find enjoyable. Thanks.
@munchiegoosie
Hi--sorry that that all of those attachment wounds have been feeling like a struggle. If you ever want to share more about that, feel free to wherever you'd feel comfortable. And that's something to feel proud of that you're trying your best to hang in there. 💜
I hadn't heard of that app--it looks really cute. 😊 I love the idea of gamification in general. Like, instead of "healthy" actions being a chore or something stressful, if I can trick myself into thinking it's a game and something fun that I want to do, and that allows me to set up habits and do helpful things without feeling burdened, then that seems pretty great. Whatever gets the job done.
Yay for distractions. You're allowed to have fun, lol.
@QuietMagic
1. How are you feeling today?
I’m at about 4 out of 10.
2. Is there anything you've succeeded at recently that you feel proud of?
I learned to just ignore a person at work who seems to want to upset me or control me. I’m not playing her games.
@purpleTree4652
Sorry that things are on the lower half of the number scale. 💜
That sounds helpful to not get pulled into interactions with someone who's just actively trying to make you miserable. I know I feel good when I'm able to exercise some control over my interactions like that and do things to protect myself and look out for my safety/well-being.
@QuietMagic
How are you feeling today?.... 'Mellow'
Is there anything you've succeeded at recently that you feel proud of?...... a few things. But off the top of my head, "Letting go of something I was initially apprehensive of, after a LONG time... but, after I finally did it, I realized it was the right thing to do for the moment.
@PoliteOcean
Mellow sounds nice.
That's really great that it felt like the right thing to let go of that thing. And that's totally fine that it took a while to feel comfortable doing that, since I imagine you must have had your reasons for feeling apprehensive for a while. If you feel like sharing, what was the thing you were able to let go of?
1. Today I am 3/10 I think. I have BPD and Im dealing with my past right now. I always did, but now im gonna say sorry to some people, and talk it out instado of hiding, like Ive been doing since my 3 or 4 years of live, now I am 23, almost 24.
2. I started this month with mindfulness. Its something I can only achieve in the classes, not at home yet, but its the only thing that comes to mind.
Im New here, and I need to do a lot of changes, I am gong to try, I also follow a psycotherapist named Jordan Peterson, and I hope I get more... easy to stay with, because I dont wanna lose my friends again for being too difficult.
@Kharliah
Sorry things aren't feeling great. 💜 Makes sense that you're thinking about some events from the past and finding yourself wanting to apologize to people instead of keeping those feelings to yourself.
That's nice that you've started working on mindfulness stuff! Understand what you're saying of wanting to try to make some changes so that you're able to have friendships without feeling like you might accidentally lose those people at some point.
Thanks for answering my posts :) Im gonna try to be better, I dont want my life, or my reality, to be so complicated. Its so exhausting
I'm right there with you ... I'm 32 and I don't know how to communicate with anyone when I'm upset I just go ghost and that's not good ...
@hardworkingWater2846
Hey--I've definitely done that too. 💜 I'd say there are usually a couple feelings that lead to me doing that.
1) "Even if I try to share how I'm feeling or ask for a change, this person isn't going to listen, understand, respect my feelings, take me seriously, or be willing to do anything to help me."
2) "I don't know how much of this is really the other person's fault. Maybe the things I'd want or hope for aren't reasonable to expect someone else to offer. It would feel really bad if I were open/vulnerable and shared something I'm sensitive about and ask for them to help me and then they were to turn around and say, 'You have no right to ask me that'."
3) "I'm afraid if other people really saw how I was feeling, they'd think less of me, be scared of me, and actively avoid me. I have to be dishonest with people and hide the full extent of what I'm feeling in order to have any people at all in my life."
I'm wondering you feel anything similar? Or maybe you have different reasons for ghosting than I do. 😊
How am I feeling?
I'm exhausted, feeling lost and not completely sure who I am.
But also i know this is normal for me, there is times i get lost and recover myself. But recently it has been the same things I I try to implement!
Anything I've achieved or proud of?
I'm currently decluttering my room, and hopefully my mind at the same time!
@loyalPal6408
I can definitely relate to that feeling of it being normal to get lost or not know who you are. It's comforting that every so often things seem like they come together or recover, and I hope you don't have to be stuck for too long before that happens. 😊 Feel free to schedule a chat with me if you feel like talking through it might help speed up that process.
Yay for cleaning... I should do that too, haha.
