Hi Joy! 😊❤️ Thank you for your great forum post! I really enjoyed reading this! I for one, truly like finding things to laugh at. There is so much to be said for the value of laughter! 😊 It can bring levity to a situation, have a calming effect in some tense situations by, just as you said, being disarming and there is much to be said about "knowing your audience" as well as timing.
I love finding the joy in moments and not taking myself too seriously! I'd like to feel that my sense of humor is firmly in tact and that in no way is my "funny bone" broken. In real life, if it's going to be funny, oh, I'm going for it! *Beep beep* here comes the hot mess express!
I really think that is the biggest difference in me in real life as opposed to being here, online, on 7 cups. I have to dial the sense of humor back and way back as I understand that text can be more difficult for someone to understand timing, nuance, innuendo, cadence, voice inflection, tone, rate of speech, facial cues, body language, etc. Humor is harder here but I still get a few zingers in there once in awhile! 😊❤️
Luckily for me, I have many teammates around me here on 7 cups that are what I call the "total package"....smart, funny and kind! If they see you without a smile, they'll be more than happy to give you one! (Thank you for being you! ❤️)

Hey Sparky!! Glad you enjoyed it!! I agree laughter brings so much joy. It' is truly a great value to it. I never thought of it as a way to disarm an intense situation till this post. It really made me realize how much more there is to laughter and the power it holds!
I love that you don't take yourself too seriously! That is truly an amazing trait, that I should probably work on myself. :p I love that you just go for it.
Also, I understand what you mean. It's not always easy to convey what you actually want to say through text. It can lead to misunderstandings at times and so most of us probably try to dial it back to avoid those misunderstandings. Better safe than sorry though <3
