What’s The First Thing You Do Every Morning?
“Habits
matter — especially the ones that start our day.
The Morning Routine
It’s easy to roll out of bed and let the day go as it comes, but that mentality lacks purpose and intention. The tone for our day is set by the morning. What we do first thing impacts the rest of our day.
Habits Take Time To Build
When we aren’t performing one habit, we are building a new habit. In the initial phases of performing a habit, your mind and body are constantly tugging with you to perform another habit — usually a less productive one. The more consistent you are with a habit — without breaking the chain (missing a day) — you eradicate the desire to form a less productive habit.
Our habits stem from the choices we make.
To develop a productive habit, you must make a new decision.
For example, if you want to avoid touching your phone first thing in the morning, leave your phone out of sight or out of mind, and place a book by your bedside or a note card with what you want to do each morning.
What Does Your Morning Look Like?
What’s the first thing you do each morning? If you happen to do what most people do each morning, you probably pick up your phone first thing out of habit.
What if you decided to do something different, such as cracking open a book, meditating, stretching, or speaking affirmations aloud?
Imagine how much better your day could be if you did something in the morning that didn’t include technology, news, or social media.
Create and organize your ideal morning routine and place it in a location visible to you. Memorize the routine and perform it consistently without fail until it becomes a habit too difficult to break.”

Yes phone lol, this feels like a personal attack again haha. 😂
I've been trying not to though hehe, so the first thing I do after waking up mostly is contemplate waking up really. XD Hardest part smh.
I'm hoping I can get back to my morning walks, I took a break and it's still going :') alsooo affirmations sound great, should try them also. Thanks for sharing, Joy, How does your routine look like typically?❤️
@Sunisshiningandsoareyou
Truly the hardest part, is getting out of a comfy bed haha.
Since it’s typically colder this time of year, I feel it’s okay to take a break from morning walks. As that’s what I have also been telling myself lol!
For me, it like to start with some coffee, feeding the doggies, and writing in two of my journals! 💜

I appreciate the honesty hahah! "As that’s what I have also been telling myself lol!" Same! 😂
That sounds like a lovely routine!
I think a basic routine is to master what "MUST" be done at certain times or on a certain day WITH extra time left over.
MY WAKE-UP ROUTINE (2:00am - 5:30am) - COFFEE AND JOURNAL: .50 / COFFEE AND 7-CUPS: .75 / MORNING TASKS: 1.25 / MAKE BED: .25 / TOTAL TIME = 2.75 OF 3.5 HOURS
There's plenty of other things I could try to squeeze into my morning routine but over time, I've found these to be the most critical. If I didn't do these, my week could lose stability.
Other routines throughout the week and month
DISCIPLINE # 1
(Clean kitchen before bedtime)
DISCIPLINE # 2
(Make bed every morning)
DISCIPLINES # 3
FINANCE DISCIPLINES
(Monday’s / {5th} {17th} {25th})
I do not think routines are the same as "to do" lists or "Schedules" because I think To-Do lists and Schedules are ever changing to cicumstances and I think a good routine is minimal to pesonal circmstances but always doable regardless of changing schedules and overbearing to-do lists.
Just a thought 😊.

Before I started working in retail, I used to work out almost everyday, which I enjoyed. Also for years I would read and study the Bible when I got up, which I retained a lot of the scriptures and it comes in handy now. I used to have desk jobs with not much activity. Now that I am in retail, walking over about 8 hours a day, I am pretty tired. Now the first thing I do after going to the bathroom, is brush my teeth and get showered and dressed. Yes, if you want to develop good habits, you need to do them everyday until they are second nature to you.
@innateJoy9602 Coffee. I set my alarm for 3 hours before I have to go to work. Coffee first - then feed the cat. A little online chat with my boyfriend and then sit and stare into the dark trying to work up the motivation to go to work.
