Leadership Opportunities AMA: Interview with AnnaSilverberg and Always25!

On 7 Cups, leadership roles encompass a wide range of positions where folks can volunteer their time and expertise to support the community's growth, safety, and well-being. These roles include but are not limited to moderating forums, mentoring new listeners, overseeing specific projects or teams, and contributing to the overall strategic direction of different community areas. They are integral to ensuring 7 Cups remains a supportive and effective platform for everyone.

To spread awareness of our many opportunities, I have launched the Leadership AMA series. Each month, we'll be holding an AMA for all things leadership, but with an extra special addition! We'll be featuring different leadership positions and teams every month, giving you a chance to hear directly from those with active leadership experience.

In last week's sessions, we were lucky to have two special guests with us: @AnnaSilverberg and @Always25. Anna is an Ambassador who wears many cool hats and is an active, positive presence across the community. She oversees Quality Mentors and the more recent acquisition of the Listener Coaching Team. Always25 also wears many cool hats. She supports the community on several tracks, and has been a long-standing contributor to our community for a whopping 8 years as of yesterday (the 10th). I conducted an interview with both of these quality champions that I will share for your enjoyment and education!

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your leadership journey on 7 Cups?

Oh my, wow! There are so many things to mention! I absolutely love what I do here on Cups, I'm really passionate about what I do here and how I can help.

I feel so much joy when I'm mentoring someone and they come to me and share with me how well they've been doing in their member chats. What I also find inspiring is when my mentees come and say "Hey, I'm not very good at x or y, can you help me strengthen this skill?" You will always hear a yes coming from me when that's asked by a mentee.

I also earned the PB award last year, which I didn't expect at all but it made me jump with joy.

Many good things come your way when you put good out in the world.

What does the Quality Mentor team do?
Quality Mentors are trained listeners who provide guidance to listeners on their listener journey.

It can be learning how to navigate the site, getting help with finding resources as well as learning all about Active listening.

Our mentors help our listeners grow on their listener journey, they can even help them get verified and gain the skills they need to get the leadership roles they desire.

How can someone best prepare themselves to join or lead a team like yours?
To meet the requirements for the team is number one of course, but I also recommend to not be applying for too many roles at once. Because the Mentor role takes a lot of time, so if you've recently applied and gotten other roles, I might ask you to adjust to them and apply again once you have.

And of course always have a good self-care routine, I can't stress that enough.

We don't want anyone to experience a burnout, that includes our Mentors too.

What has been the most rewarding aspect of your leadership journey on 7 Cups?
Mine was joining the Quality Mentoring team as I have a real passion for Quality on 7cups! I'm so incredibly lucky to collaborate with such amazing leaders and mentors within the team, as well as to be able to keep learning new things and skills to support our amazing listeners

How has your leadership experience on 7 Cups contributed to your personal growth and development?
So I started my leadership development through the LDP (leadership development program) earlier this year, as I had been here for a while and wanted to give back to the community, through the program I learnt alot of new skills and ideas that I have been able to use within my roles
