What do you wish there was more awareness for?
There are so many things we go through in life, yet sometimes it can feel like we don't have much of a space for speaking about it or for it being acknowledged. However, we have special events on 7 Cups which encourages more awareness and discussion on various topics!
So what would you like more awareness for?
- Motherhood as an excuse to tell others you are a better person than those who don't have that opportunity/wish
- Backstabbing authorities/colleagues at work, and surviving toxic workplaces and false rumors
- Family not understanding anxiety and depression related to survival mode
Mental issues.
Addiction as a disease
Mental challenges/illness. Dyslexia.
Mental health awareness in grade school. It would have helped a lot to put a name to what I had and seeked help sooner.
Adoptee Right issues. Adoptees are not guaranteed access to their original birth certificates, family medical history, genetic lineage, or cultural heritage in any state in the United States. We're forced to pay agency fees, visit doctors, use paid searchers or search angels, upload our DNA to database sights like 23andMe, or post our personal information to social media in order to try to access what most nonadoptees access freely and privately. Most people believe Adoptee records are sealed for our benefit, but the practice was initiated by people such as Georgia Tann to cover the criminal activity of child trafficking. The children of poor women were taken and given to wealthy or more powerful people, for a price, and then the records were sealed so the act was hidden. The coercive acts used to take children away from their mothers hasn't changed much since then, but the general public is still largely ignorant to the motives of the modern adoption industry, both domestic and international, and the tactics it uses to separate biological family members. The CEO's of numerous domestically based adoption agencies pull six figure salaries from their posts as high ranking officers in "non-profit" organizations. These people and their manipulative tactics are part of the reason I was unable to find my mother before she died. I looked for her my whole life and found her in 2015, 3 years after she died. Nightmare.
Sex Education. Consent, sexuality, contraseptives, communication, and boundaries.
Suicide and self-harm. So that suicidal teens/adults aren't so afraid to tell someone
Women who don't have a voice
