Kids' Book Reading Challenge!
I’m inviting everyone to a kids’ book reading challenge! <3
Yeah, I know. You’re probably thinking, “I’m an adult/teen. Why would I read kids’ books?”
Hear me out, ok? <3
I have ADD. It’s gotten worse, the worse my mental health has gotten. I have the attention span of a goldfish, and books written for adults are hard for me to focus on. I’ve discovered that kids’ books inspire and entertain me and hold my interest easily <3
Also, kids’ books are shorter and pack a ton of cool and fun information into smaller sections, which makes it much easier to digest information. You can learn about subjects you know little about, without having to do a deep-dive in a long, wordy adult book. You can cover massive amounts of topics in a short time, and do interest-led learning (or pick up a book about a new topic on a whim)!
Also, there are people here who never had a real childhood. Kids’ books will make them feel like they’re living what they missed out on when they were a kid. <3
So… Who’s with me? Discover the wonder of kids’ books with me! Post what you’ve read, tell us what you learned, if you liked it or not, what interests bud from learning from them, etc. Anything you’d like! Suggest books for us to read as well <3
Check your local library for some amazing gems! Check out a pile of books, and return any that don’t end up piquing your interest. It’s that simple! <3
I can’t wait to share this adventure with you <3
Wow, this is so relatable! My anxiety and depression causes me to have a very short attention span. There isn’t much entertainment-wise I enjoy but I do love children’s books. For the most part, they are not as complex as adult books. When you have problems sometimes you don’t want to read about more problems. 😂
At the moment, I am reading The House In The Cerulean Sea. It’s a delightful book. I have also been reading some very simple children’s stories by Ted Dekkar. The Worst Witch is another great series.
My brain has been fried for several years. It’s hard for me to read anything too complex haha.
Boosting :)
I'll be on board for re-checking out Boxcar Children. 😁
You really should! Did you ever read Encyclopedia Brown?
Haven't heard of that one
What???????
...?
Classic childhood staple???? Hehe
Wasn't a staple for me. Then again, most classic things weren't.
How come?
Seeing something everywhere naturally makes me seek out other things besides it
Twilight? ;)
I've felt free to leave that alone too. 😂
I’ve heard so many jokes about it that I just assume it’s dumb lol
I've heard about 5 minutes of the audiobook. To be honest, the writing could be worse, but I know just a little about the questionable territory it gets into. 😅 Anyway, I can't really judge it... Yet. But I'd probably rather leave it alone.
