...tell me that I need to lose weight.
@Charlie33 Here comes the truth. You might, it all depends on your size. If your have some fat on you, it shouldn't be unhealthy. But if you struggle to get up or walk or do daily movements and have fat rolls when you stand up straight, they, people telling your to lose weight might actually be worried for your health. Just remember Only you can make what people say hurtful, if someone tells you to lose weight and aren't trying to insult you. I recommend checking your weight in case you are at a dangerous stage, and if so, then I think the person cares about your and trying to help you and you should make a change. Otherwise, just tell them, that you are at a healthy weight and your happy with that (unless your not at a healthy weight in which case, Lose it) That's all I can say. The truth hurts
@CitizenKane I understand what you're saying, and you make a good point. I know that I am overweight, and that it's not good for my health. I am 5'9" tall, and at my largest I weighed in at 320 pounds. I know that is clearly too much, and I am doing something about it. I have lost 30 pounds to 290, and I feel better. The thing is, though, I know that I need to lose weight, and it's a real struggle that I've dealt with all my life. I already know that I need to lose weight, I don't need to hear people tell me that. I don't walk around telling people that they need to stop smoking, drink less alcohol, do a better job of controlling their anger, etc. The thing I don't think people who have never been seriously overweight realize, is that those who are severly overweight know that they are overweight, and it won't help to tell them something they already know. It also frustrates me to no end when someone tells me that the way I need to lose weight is to eat less and work out more. Does this person think I am an idiot? I couldn't figure that out for myself? Obviously, there is more going on here. The thing to take away from this rant of mine is, people who are overweight already know that they are overweight, and getting preached to wont help anything, no one wants to be preached to. I'm not saying that you have been preaching to me, but that is why it hurts when people do. It doesn't feel good for somone to walk up to you and point out your flaws, especially if they are pointing to something you have been struggling with all of your life, and are obviously sensitive about.
@Charlie33 Exactly. And if you're making an effort, that should be noticed and praised. We don't need people to bring us down. Just friends to lift us up/motivate us. :)
