i woke up in a dream.

he is nearby.

also the beach, the sea, the sky

we are not arguing anymore......

i found the reason. the reason why we were arguing... and i decided to act.

as i couldnt live that life anymore

i started a new life...

my name is maria. i live on an island. i am somewhat happy person... i have the sea. cocktails.. food... i have a love... my man... and i have a house

sometimes we argue....

but i have everything. everything i was dreaming of...

and almost every day i am happy....

i eat my favorite dishes... i drink the best drinks..

and i know.. this is temporary..

what can be better?

well i am afraid... i have my concerns... about this man..

what if he leaves me?

these thoughts make me feel myself not really good...

i am afraid.. i dont want to have this fear....

so i decided i need a retreat. i built my own home

and told him

"i need a week"

so i will have one week... just one week alone

me, a cup of tea and... my dog...

***

day 1.

well its hard. because i miss him.

but i have my day... its my day.. i can do whatever i want

its interesting what he is doing right now

but i want to think about myself...

okay i need to feed ma dog and to go for a walk

is he thinking about me?

okay, i need a cup of tea....

day 2

okay i have a whole day to think

i need a paper and a pen.. what should i write?

okay. a letter..

"dear me.... its june 27/2023.

i am happy...."

day 3

today i will have a long walk......

a long walk and lots of thoughts..

also im gonna do some sport.....

and draw...

i have a big goal.

i need to solve a puzzle....

day 4

im gonna walk to the sea.... and think..

i have some days left....

i had a break. i had an opportunity to relax...

now i need to act

what is my goal? why am i here?

i remember many things

i know who i am

but who is he???

i think somehow we are connected... and i dont want to lose him.. he is very nice

and... i have an idea!!!!!

i guess we need to act together...

*i am running to him

"hey! i have an idea! we should act together....."

day 5

morning coffee and great big plans for today.....

we are going to make a lunch together

and i asked him to help with a dog

i realised.. i am not alone here..

so we will help each other....

***

thank you for the opportunity to improvise....

love, ML

Awh, this prompt is just so sweet! When I first read this, it gave me a lovely, magical sort of feeling<3 Thank you so much for this :)

Before I begin, please note that I am really quite new at writing, which means I may not be so good at it at this point :') But I am trying... I really am trying...

Okay then *deep breath* Here it goes!

As the first rays of dawn illuminated the world, Sarah awoke to find herself standing in the midst of a dream she had always longed for: a world where dreams could be touched, shaped, and brought to life. She relished the scent of the fresh, cool air that filled her lungs; the sensation of the soft, warm sand between her toes; and the welcome sound of the ocean. She recalled fondly how, as a young child, she dreamed that the ocean could speak to her in soft, sweet whispers—telling her tales which only she would ever know.

Then, quite suddenly, Sarah sensed another person's presence there; and something in her told her that it was a child's presence, and not an adult's. She glanced away from the breathtaking scene playing out before her, and quickly turned when she beheld a sweet little child standing innocently near the tranquil waters. The child wore a long, white nightgown and seemed about six or seven years old. Her short, golden hair framed her face so prettily in thick, wet curls; and she had rosy blooms in her cheeks and large, laughing eyes.

'Hello,' she said, without even the slightest remnant of shyness. Her voice was sweet and clear, and neither soft nor loud. She then smiled, revealing pretty white teeth and dimples.

Sarah could not help but feel an air of familiarity about this child. She had to know her, somehow. It then struck her that in a world as beautiful and magical as this one, perhaps everyone knew everyone, as they do in some towns and villages. Perhaps, then, this young girl lived somewhere near the beach and came here often. Sarah glanced around to see if the child's parents were around, and was quite confused to find that, indeed, they were not.

'Hello,' Sarah said finally. 'Do you come here—often, I mean?' She searched for any fear in the child's young eyes, and was again quite confused to find nothing of the sort. It was as if the child too felt an air of familiarity.

'Oh yes,' the child said, 'Very often.' She paused, her little face knit in thought. 'I don't know how, though.'

Sarah shook her head slowly and uncertainly. 'I don't understand.'

'Well,' the child began, gesturing towards the ocean, 'I'm always waking up, here, on the sand. And I don't know why. Or how.'

'And where do you go, after waking up?' With each word Sarah spoke, she felt more strongly that she knew this child, and knew her well.

'Oh, nowhere,' the child replied. 'I just play here, alone. No one ever comes here—ever. So I just play and talk to the ocean, until I feel sleepy.'

Since Sarah didn't think talking to the ocean was very unnatural for a child, she didn't ask about it. 'And then, when you wake up, you are here again?'

'Well, no, not exactly. I'm always somewhere else before I come here.'

'Somewhere... else?'

'I don't remember it when I come here. I only remember falling asleep on something soft and warm, and then I'm here again.' The child spoke much more softly now, almost in a whisper—as if she were afraid someone would hear them.

Sarah didn't think any of this made much sense, and so she decided on changing the topic. 'What's your name?' she asked.

The little girl smiled her lovely smile again. 'Sarah.'

I know I may have left it on a cliffhanger, but I'm thinking of writing a 'Part Two.' I'm really sorry if this piece sounded weird, or was quite silly or cringe :')

Feedback and/or constructive criticism is much welcome as well.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post :)

💙This is amazing! I love the plot! I kinda figured that she was her own childhood (I read too many books lol) but still was suspicious.

This story really gives a beautiful and magical feeling! I really love how you interpreted it, and how you ended the story, leaving it for the readers to imagine the rest. Your writing and imagination are amazing! I loved the plot and you have the skill to become a great writer yourself! 💙 The way you wrote this is beautiful 💙

Keep it up, you are amazing! 💙

As the first rays of dawn illuminated the world, Sarah awoke to find herself standing in the midst of a dream she had always longed for: a world where dreams could be touched, shaped, and brought to life...

At the first thought of her cat, the lucid beauty of thought formed itself into a trotting calico. Mittens was not only in her dream, formed as if spun from the light of the dream itself, but the cat was actually floating up to her after a gentle leap toward Sarah!

She giggled, astonished, and reached out to "catch" the cat, who floating as if in a spaceship, and for a moment the dream nearly shifted from a picaresque landscape into a galactic vessel, but after a shimmer it stabilized into the solid grassy gnolls, rolling hills, and crashing surf upon a nearbye shore.

The moment Mittens touched her hands, Sarah felt every detail of her cat's felten coat filling them, and soon she had her furry friend enveloped in a cuddle so real that her nose was tickled and itched every so slightly, as it often did when her face was burried in a loving cuddle. True to life, Mittens nearly sprang out of her embrace but had filled Sarah's arm with a rumbling purr that sank clear into hear heart, and her body became increasingly sensitive to the physicality of this wonderous realm.

Every one of her senses lit up, and suddenly she could spell the nearby ocean, petricore from morning rain and dew that breathed up from the earth, and the dew-struck blades of grass beneath her bare feet.

She felt a gentle breaze enveloping her, could taste the sweetness of the air, could swear the ground beneath her was so solid that she almost forgot she was dreaming.

A sob almost burst out of her as she felt her heart nearly ache with the beauty of it, and tears christened the rims of her eyes. She blinked and wondered what she would do while she had the chance to live her lifelong (literal) dream!

Then the floating Mittens drifted away from her, purring and rising toward a sky half stars, half blue sky and majestic rays of light from a sun that hid behind a cloud, and she knew immediately what she wanted to do.

A grin creapt up on her cheeks, and her eyes narrowed with determination. "If Mittens can, so can I," she thought. But how?

She thought perhaps a jump, but no...that didn't seem like it would work. So instead, she closed her eyes, and imagined the ground falling out from under her, imagined the lifting and inertia of escaping gravity, and with deep breath, it began.

Sarah was lifting off the earth. Slowly at first, but with an increasing joy and velocity as she opened her eyes to see that yes, she really was flying!

Soaring now, awestruck and giddy, her arms clamped to her sides as if she needed to be aerodynamic, but then as her favorite superheroes occurred to her, another wave of determination hit her, and she knew what would come next.

"To infinity, and beyond indeed," she thought. And as she turned back to look at the earth now miles away from her, there was Mittens, paws stretched out, and soaring close behind. Soon they'd reach the stars themselves.

Her dreams had always been weird, but now, now she could mold them, control them just the tiniest bit so she dove deeper into the feelings and the relationships of the people she dreamed about so often.

I have not posted for months, maybe years. I like the idea of a writing forum. Writing is so good as therapy. You have the best listener: you. Here is something I have been working on.

With their souls of patent leather,

they come down the road.

Hunched and nocturnal,

Where they breathe they impose,

silence of dark rubber,

and fear of fine sand.

Romance de la Guardia Civil Española

Federico García Lorca (1898–1936)

Spanish poet, playwright,

killed by the Falange Party in Spain

***

The pine trees softened the sounds of a distant parade, a party, a play, or a fight. But the night remained still in the campo. A yell, Arriba España, more yelling and a scream hushed the whistle of the pines. Headlights flickered over a high berm nearby. A strange, repeated cough, a pinging sound and a chain rattled as coins fell on wood. I crawled to the top of the berm and the shadow of a bush and peered through the branches. Canvassed trucks moved as the spray of a hose hit upon a hard surface, like stone.

Green uniforms, German helmets, leather boots, side arms, short-barreled submachine guns, the magazine, round, and the flipped patent leather hat of the Guardia Civil. The helmeted men stepped into the rear of two six-wheeled trucks and seated themselves left and right. One soldier sprayed the last standing stone wall of a house using a fire hose attached to a huge water truck, the trickle of water dark against the lights. One truck turned on its lights as it reached a dirt road, changed gears with a grind, and accelerated north on the road to Burgos.

A tall soldier dressed in green and black leather that glistened in the headlights slammed the rear door of a paneled truck that seemed heavily laden. He fastened the bolts on each side of the wood panel door and slapped the door twice. He turned around and scanned the field as the truck moved forward.

While my younger brother slept in his sleeping bag, I lay flat on the soft sand, my hands behind my head, staring at stars that on a clear night had no answers for me at 11 years old. Two miles from my house, near a road from Chamartín to Alcobendas, an area just north of Madrid, in 1958. I must have told myself it was a dream or a play.

Sometimes I wonder if the lives we're living on this physical planet is a dream that our true selves in another Universe, are having and if that's the truth, maybe we're continuously waking up in dreams in the Universe and the Earth at the same time

We are sleeping, but waking up
