Personal Narrative!

Hi!! Today in Support Room, I asked for guidance in writing a short personal narrative for a school assignment. I decided to write about my journey with my pet jeffery and how having him has changed me. I just wanted to share. I will post more in the comment laters.

They say a baby fills a place in your heart that you didn’t know was empty. I have yet to become a parent to a human child, but for my 8th birthday, I was gifted a pet rabbit. I know this is not comparable to having a human child, but having Jeffery has made my life all the more complete. I have gotten to watch him grow, right alongside me. I am about to turn 16, and he is still alive. I have spoiled him as one does with a child. He’s been there for my highs and for my lows. When I moved halfways across the country and had nothing, Jeffery was there. When I lost my friend, again, Jeffery was there. I’ve coddled him when he is sick, nursing him back to health. I’ve changed his bandages when he hurt his foot. This has really been a great experience. 

When I first got Jeffery, I figured this would be another ‘goldfish’ situation. I’d get a pet, not really care about it, have it for a few years, it would die, and I’d get another. This was not the case with Jeffery. I fell in love with him immediately, more than a usual 8-year-old would love a cuddly soft bunny. Every day I took care of him, and after school, I would play with him, and read to him. One time he even helped me with my homework. My friends were obsessed with him, but I often found myself lying, telling them he was asleep. I didn’t want a lot of people loving on my Jeffery. He was mine, and quite frankly I didn’t wish to share. Since then, he's become the subject of many art projects, poems, homework assignments, and photographs.
