The Rabbit under the Moon
"The Rabbit"
The rabbit. Quick as a fox, lucky as a deer. But, dear oh dear, it digs a lot of holes.
What do you want, I query the rabbit? A carrot? Is that it? Why do you dig? What trick are you trying to sink into—wit?
It tunnels into the ground, stopping at a point where it seems to have found its place. Why not go further? Why not stop sooner? Why was it there that you felt you met a fate?
How does a rabbit choose which depth it finds the best place to rest? Does it just get tired, give up, and decide: this is it, then?
Maybe the rabbit is perfectly precise. Perhaps it burrows for a time, then feels just right.
You seem scared sometimes, little one, despite your paws of luck. To process things so fluidly and fast is like a tick that forgot it had to tuck in a tock.

"The Moon's Reflection"
"The light is green. You should go. We're going to be late!"
Moon: "Don't get dark with me.
Anyway, I thought light was white."
"You're really lighting my fire!
Damn. Now the light is yellow. I probably shouldn't go now.
Thanks."
Moon: "Why so blue?
What's the rush?"
"When the light goes red, I still want to go, so I can see the lights at the show."
Moon: "I understand.
There's a task at hand, music to see, melodies to hear, people and cheer.
The light will go green, in time."

Thank you for sharing.
Both the rabbit and the moon spoke to me about the hesitancy of just being.
We tend to go down a rabbit hole or try to pigeon hole ourselves to fit in with what ever version society wants us to be.
We mimic it for a while but the sheen starts to wear off.
We have to be unapologetically ourselves.
Not shy away, to ease other people's uncomfortability.
If we don't fix in a box with a neat bow, we are moulded and welded and encouraged.
The real happiness comes when we stop.
Like the rabbit we should set our own pace.
Dig as shallow or as deep as we want to.
Once the decision is ours.
And like the moon, whether we shine brightly or not, aren't we still inevitably at the end of it all, still the moon?

Heh, the rabbit part reminded me of a story my aunt told. She was inside the house, and saw my grandma digging a hole in the garden... Their dog and rabbit were watching. She looks back, and sees the dog digging, and my grandma and the rabbit watching. Finally, she comes back with her coffee, and sees the rabbit digging the best out of all of them as the others looked on.
