Anyone use the No Contatc/Minimal Contact Rule to try and get their ex back?
Hi,
A week ago my fiance of 8 years (been together over 10) decides to end things. I thought things were great, we
A forewarning: my response is slightly off-topic and you are free to ignore what I'm saying as it most likely does not align with the kind of responses you're looking for (i.e. responses that will help you achieve your goal) but I had some thoughts on the matter that I'd like to share here.
In my romantic history, I tend to not try to get my exes back. I like to focus on myself and not on how it will affect the other person or my actions will make the other person react. I completely understand why you would want to get back together as you have been together for a very long time and it appears to be very serious. My personal reasons for not trying to get back with my exes is as follows: you cannot control the other person however much you want to, and if everything you are doing is in relation to the other person - you are not guaranteed a happy ending. Typically from what I've seen of the NC/minC method is that the couple either gets back together or the person who initiated the NC/minC does things for themselves as a result of the minimal contact and in the end is happier as their actions are for themselves.
That being said - a good rule of thumb is to give the other person space as usually these kinds of things happen because the other person is scared of losing individuality or freedom or something along those lines. However, you know this person better than I, and while my explanation is a possible one, it is by no means the only one. Best of luck with everything

I'm sorry you're going through this. I'm in a similiar situation currently. I have very bad anxiety and possibly depression (I'm starting therapy this week) and it destroyed my relationship. My ex has anger issues and gets very frustrated with me because he didn't know how to deal with me when I got anxious (the constant questioning and need for reassurance). So he broke up with me. He is very stressed because he just lost his job and I know my constant nagging sent him over the edge. He told me if I don't leave him alone he will block my number... so we haven't talked in 2 days. It's killing me. He's my best friend and I really need his support right now. I'm really scared that he will be happier without me... I really thought he was "the one" (he said he thought that too). I can't stop being negative about all of this. I just wish his name would pop up on my phone.
