Break Up

Hi there! About a month ago I finished with my partner where we had been together for 5 years. I made the decision because there was no progress I wanted to live together and he did not show interest and it was frustrating because I told him everything I wanted was super transparent with him and I told him what I wanted to achieve in this relationship and he told me that Yes, but nothing, we also discussed a lot and it hurts because I wanted everything with him and it was not like that. Now I'm meeting someone and I really like him a lot and he makes me feel good but deep down sometimes I think I made this hasty decision. Sometimes it shocks me not to open my eyes and understand once and for all that there were five years in which there were no changes and that I have to stop thinking that if it can work when the reality is that it will not be so due to this break I have fallen in depression and anxiety and I do not want to continue like this and also. This person that I am meeting now in such a short time has shown me so many things I have been sincere in all this situation that I am going through and he has not let go of my hand for anything in the world and it shocks me because I am still closed with fear with still that I remember the other person, I don't know what to do

I would take it slow with this new guy, even though you feel great, you need to take it slow to protect yourself more than anything... people are always on their best behaviour when they’re first trying to win you over, taking time to see his true intentions and for for you to heal properly over the previous relationship would be a good step, but at the end of the day, it’s your life and I’m just a stranger on the internet.

You're right. But I know that he has good intentions because he has shown it but it is still good to be careful as you say. Another thing, sometimes I think that because I have been in a relationship for 5 years, it is wrong for me to enter another relationship so quickly, many people are judging and it is difficult to progress because they judge without knowing what I happen in that relationship I know I don't have to pay attention to people, but then when you're depressed it affects you.

I was going to say, maybe you got into a new relationship too quickly? But hey you can’t always control the timing of things sometimes! First of all you should be very proud of yourself for ending your previous relationship if it wasn’t moving forward in the right way — trust me, I was with my ex for 9 years waiting for a proposal and it never happened. Secondly, I am so happy you found someone who seems like a good guy. I encourage you to take it slow and to enjoy it and to not let your fears get the best of you. You could even go to counseling to sort through any anxiety or just look into self help. I think you’ll be ok 🙂
