Broke up two years ago... still not over her
My girlfriend and I broke up two years ago and I can't help but still think about her often. We had an incredible relationship and decided to go our separate ways mutually after the spark had faded. We realized we were best friends and no longer making the effort to be romantic.
Since then I've dated and I can't seem to find the level of connection I had with my ex. Our connection was intense immediately and I know I can't expect that again since that was a rare thing to experience. We decided to cut all communication between each other from the start of the break up since we figured clear space would help us both move on. Yet... here I am two years later still pining over her.
Any advice of what I should do at this point?
@NYCQueer that sounds tough Have you tried making a appointment with a consuelor or a threapist they could maybe help fiqure out why your still stuck on her 2 years later or could try Jouranling as a coping mechenism for when you have thoughts about her.
@NYCQueer Love is hard. It sounds like there was a lot of amazing experiences in your relationship that have built up nostalgia and become even nicer as time has went on. I can see that you loved your ex girlfriend a lot and being best friends has made it even harder to let go. It's hard to get over people when you've been through so much together and feel so understood by them. Intimacy can be hard to come by sometimes and that inevitably makes it more tempting to long for the past.
Do you think there's any chance separation has made her heart grow fonder too? Do you think pining after her has made at least some of the spark come back for you? What do you think you could do the next time around, whether its with her or another person, to keep the spark alive? How do you think she feels about you now? What keeps you from contacting her and seeing how things go from there? People reconnect and fall in love together all the time. Wilder things have happened. Reflecting on those questions by yourself or even journaling about them may be helpful.
Alternatively, if you feel like although you miss her you wouldn't want her back... Maybe you can reflect on what about that relationship you'd want to find again when you fall in love again? What would you want to do differently? Do you think you just miss her because you're lonely and dating has been hard? Whatever you decide on, I wish you the best and hope you can find love that's even better than you expect could be possible.
Something tells me she's probably thought about you and missed you too.
