Cheating?!

So,

long story short.

My boyfriend of almost 3 years broke up with me.

I had a feeling for these almost 3 years that something was going on  but I didn't know how to say it to him. He said he'd be cheating the whole time we were together

leading up to the breakup he was flirting with other girls and our whole relationship he'd laugh and have a good time with other people but as soon as I came around it was like he was quiet and like his best friend died (metaphor). And he was super insecure about what I wore and who I talked to. So no crop tops or shorts for me. and I couldn't talk to a single guy I was friends with without him thinking they wanted me or I wanted them. to the point the last couple months almost everyday fights Abt him accusing me of cheating. He always talked to me like I was a child and put me down in front of other girls (I never noticed this until now, looking back). also last year he confessed to "looking at other girls."

when we broke up he confessed to trying to get with this girl who we had a fight Abt previously of me saying he was trying to get with her and him saying no. then he goes into this thing Abt how he knowingly would cause fights bc he knew I'd cave and feel bad and give him what he wanted (which what my friends told me he was doing but I didn't listen). then he says he was cheating the whole time we were together with so many girls he cant keep count then started bragging to me Abt what he was doing with them without saying names.

the part that makes me feel the most like an idiot is he said I'd be with him and the girls would walk by and they'd make faces at each other in suggestion to what they'd be doing later.

also the good part Abt this whole thing is I can actually talk to my friends now and talk to other people without it being a fight. bc before if I went and spent time with someone that wasn't him he'd cause a fight Abt it and say I'm ignoring him.

sorry you learned the hard way but you will know in your next relationship that if friends tell you do not immediately dismiss and verify also if he was keeping you from hanging out was probably so others would not tell you.  you were used and now you are free from it.

I'm glad you are free from him.

All his immaturity

Bragging.

And control.

Feeling the need to put you in your place.

These are lessons learnt for your next relationship.

When you heal.

Trust your instincts.

Friends tell us the truth .

And never let any man ever tell you what you can or can't wear or who you can or cannot talk to 💛

I am happy that you are free from him now. I can understand how the way he acted throughout the whole relationship- putting you down, controlling what you wore, who you could meet and who you could be friends with and projecting his cheating onto you must have been really, really hard to deal with. You seem to have realised a lot of things about how he treated you and your relationship now that you can look back. When we are in relationships, we sometimes can't always notice how that person is treating us, but yeah, friends can often give us hints or tell us things that we might not have noticed ourselves. I am really glad that you are free from that relationship, and I hope you will be able to trust your instincts and move forward from this experience. Take care of yourself 🫶
