Getting over a necessary breakup
Hi everyone,
I just broke up with my boyfriend a few weeks ago. I didn't want to break up with him, because I love(d?) him, but he was cruel and indifferent to me the whole time we were together, and the relationship was causing me too much pain to be worth it any more.
I'm trying really hard to get over him -- I haven't seen or talked to him since then, I've been spending time with my family and trying to keep myself distracted, and I even deleted all of my social media so I wouldn't be compelled to go check his statuses.
But I still can't seem to get him out of my head. I've dreamt about him every night in the past week. Every time I think about him, I feel hollow and lonely. I don't know what else to do.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
XO, Liz
I am sorry to hear you are going through this . I had a breakup 8 months ago and I was devastated. It is just like a wound that takes time to heal and though it seems its getting worst after each day , it actually gets better with time. All I can say for now is distract yourself, dont overthink, avoid any social media contact and most importantly take care of yourself, and hold on , pain does end.
@gloriousJoy07 how long did it take for you to heal? :(
@LizLunatic I ll be lying if I said I am completely over it (maybe cause it was a 4 yr long relationship), but yeah I am better for sure. It was bad the initial months but I started getting tired of being helpless of the situation after like 5 months. I do still think of him sometimes and recall the scene in my mind but it doesn't bother me that much like it used to in the first few months. The healing time also depends on the intensity of the relationship I think. I know it sucks right now and no words can comfort you really, but don't worry, it ll effect less and less with time. If you feel like talking about it you can PM me. Just tc xx
I am sorry i missed tagging you too in the previous post @eskie
