Hard to cope.
I just got out of a 3 year ldr barely two months ago. I've known the guy for over gen years, we met via an online game. He stopped playing but we kept contact via FB. Hed message maybe once a month, if that, and each time I'd feel so much happiness and joy even with a short conversation. About 4 years ago we talked a lot more and almost everyday. I was honestly and truly happy, and I really liked him. The topic about ldr came up one day and he said he doesnt feel too good about it because last time he got hurt. But one day he confessed he liked me, said I'd be worth it as I would never hurt him, common interests, etc. And it was honest to god the best years of my life, because he was something more to me and my best friend in one. But a year later it started going down hill. I found out I couldnt get to him at the time, and getting the funds/transportion was hard. By the time I was able to ppan things out and visit him it was too late, he had his doubts and he felt there was false hope. Reality hit him and his friends noticed he wasnt happy, he called it off between us to better himself and because he was tired of the distance. But we remained friends. Originally it was the future was uncertain but for the time being he had to do this, but recent events with him moving on with someone else he told me there is no future he didnt want me back in his life in that way as there would still always be distance. I am glad hes already bettering himself, but I am still very much hurting.
@itsSerene
im sorry your going through this breakups are hand and it sounds like you are very much in love with him long distance relationships i think need regular face to face meetups and an end plan where one is working on moving if not thats discouraging are you friends with him on facebook again?
@jennysunrise8 That's the main pain I'm having, is that I still adore him as he really was by far the best thing to happen in my life. And being such a longtime friend hes always meant something special to me to begin with. We are still friends on facebook, but we communicated through Skype messages and voice calls. We are still trying to be friends, which is another hard thing for me, as I've never remained friends with an ex before. But we still talk each day, just not nearly as much as we used to and the conversations are far more lifeless. Before dating, the talking was full of fun and laughter and joy and it continued when the relationship happened. But now that it's over talking just hasnt been the same, his reactions are much different.
@itsSerene thats understandable that he wanted more out of a relationship than just texting and skyping and if there were no plans for one of you to mover after 3 - 4 years of this it sounds like hes just given up on it and doesnt think it will be more than that long distance relationships are meant to be temporary for most people thats their expectation that it will lead to moving in together and having a life together so he just wanted more when you mightve been content with the way things were he might still be interested in you if you wanted to move forward with the relationship ... there is a big difference in the conversations with someone who is interested in a relationship and someone who is not expecting a relationship conversations in strict friendship zone are not nearly as deep its limited friendships are limited and im sure it is hard going for deep engaging conversations with someone who is in love with you to limited conversations with someone who is no longer expecting a relationship more than friends it is different
also when he starts seeing someone new its very likely his girlfriend will eventually (or right away) not like that he is talking every day to a woman on facebook so the limited conversations that you do have that are only on facebook now are likely to be reduced even more and just become a short chat occasionally for more you would need to find someone to be in a relationship with hopefully someone nearby so this doesnt happen again
