How can I get over affair?
My spouse and I are trying to get back together after a month-long affair he had. He feels genuine and like he is trying to make us work, but I can't get over the matter. We have good days, but I feel heartbroken and betrayed most days. Knowing he was so close to someone else and threw what we had away easily. All the hurtful things he said still ring in my ears. He apologized and begged me to let it go. That he chose me over here. To move on, but how? How can you just shut it off? The jealousy and the pain of what happens after an affair?
@MyDarkesthour88 I am truly so very sorry to hear that you are hurting. Infidelity can ruin marriages/relationships and it can be very hard to come back from it. I applaud you for trying* to make it work with him. I know it may seem impossible to heal and to forgive but the good thing is... it is very possible. However, you need to do it in your own time. Take all the time you need to heal from the pain. I applaud your spouse for taking the steps needed to make mends for his actions. I hope that by him truly showing you how sorry he is and by letting his actions speak louder than his words, that you are able to slowly begin to start back trusting him. It is hard when we lose trust in the person we love. Are you truly really to forgive him so you both can move forward and start living? Are you really to release and let go of the pain? Are you being receptive to him trying to change and do better? When you make the decision to forgive him for being unfaithful, you are doing so for you... for your own healing... for your own sanity. <3 It is not for him. When you make the decision to really forgive, there can be no throwing it in his face or mention of it. To forgive means to let go. So please take all the time you need so you can forgive and heal, where the thought of what he did can no longer live within you to where you get angry or hurt or relive that pain all over again. My hope is that you are able to release it. And if this relationship is what you want with him, that you two are able to work things out for the best and well being of both of you. My hope for you is that you can learn to be happy with him* again. Please take care of yourself and remember, this is on your own terms. Best of luck to you and your partner. <3
@MyDarkesthour88,
how about relationship therapy?
