I miss the girl I used as a rebound
I’m aware it sounds messed up, but after I broke up with my ex of 2 years, I tried coping by rebounding soon after. I started seeing a girl I met, and things went a lot faster than I meant them too. I was too busy forcing myself to like this girl that I ended up just using her to get over my ex, and in the process, I hurt her a substantial amount. We stopped things when I left my city, not officially, just being away made it harder to talk as much, and she eventually told me that she was going to block me on all platforms, that she never wanted to see me again, that I hurt her too much and never contact her again. I completely agree that I deserved this, and it was best for her mental health to do this, but I found myself having a hard time coping. After being so close to her for so long and going through so much I can’t help but be heartbroken at her leaving, and never being able to see her again. I know it’s my own fault and I have no right to feel that way, but I was wondering if there was any ways to come to terms with it easier, or maybe try forget about it in general. I found myself rebounding again and stopped it before it got too far. This girl was my best friend for a long time and I feel awful that I treated her the way I did, and I really miss her. How do I move on from this?
You've confused sēx with love..
Stop hurting yourself and others..
You move forward by loving again..
@MountainOtter I am not sure if she will be open to reconnecting. She may not unfortunately. Just my two cents, but it is okay to have casual relationships or hookups, but it's important to be upfront with people that you don't feel ready for a relationship and only want something casual and to find others who are on the same page before connecting with them, so it isn't a "rebound".
I really wish all man could be upfront before they start something , so I won’t have to spend 4.5years for nothing…
Sounds like the apology I wish my ex gave me but never did. At least you feel empathy and sorry for the harm you caused. When you said that you caught yourself rebounding again I feel like you never got the help you need so past patterns of trauma is repeating itself again. We actually need to heal ourselves fully first from the last so we can open up to others in the future. You need therapy to help with this otherwise the cycle can continue forever until you hurt the wrong person.
