Recent Breakup
Hello, Im in a senior in high school and before anyone says it, I know hormones make us teenagers dramatic. Well at winter formal on Saturday my boyfriend of 1 year broke up with me because I was upset he was paying more attention to his friends than to me on our anniversary/dance and he said too bad because he was with me two hours before the dance and what more could I want. I know this sounds bad on his part but he truly was a good and caring person, hes a bit younger than me but ultimately we talked and he chose his friends over me, Im not sure why he couldnt just balance both, but I guess being there the whole time supporting him when sometimes his friends abandoned him doesnt count for anything in the end because he just abandoned me for his friends when it started getting tough? Has anyone else experienced this? We are not getting back together and Ive been physically sick for days and cant sleep because I feel so heartbroken, I really loved him a lot and miss him and if it couldnt get any worse he told me to get over it because he doesnt love me anymore when I begged him to rethink his decision. He is one of the most intelligent and caring people I know yet I dont understand. I just want to hear other peoples stories of maybe similar events or what yall think, Im a pretty successful person but this is tearing me apart.

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;
Hello, Im in a senior in high school and before anyone says it, I know hormones make us teenagers dramatic. (This is a sign you could be minimizing how you feel) Well at winter formal on Saturday my boyfriend of 1 year broke up with me because I was upset he was paying more attention to his friends than to me on our anniversary/dance (Its understandable why you felt upset because you felt disconnected, and you were looking to feel the connection you once had with him) and he said too bad because he was with me two hours before the dance and what more could I want. (Its normal if you felt even more upset and disconnected because the way he responded probably made you feel like he didn't care. He was very dismissive with how you felt, and it shows he is not emotionally able to have healthy conversations) I know this sounds bad on his part but he truly was a good and caring person, (It definetly sounds bad because he didn't show any empathy or caring for how you felt) hes a bit younger than me but ultimately we talked and he chose his friends over me, Im not sure why he couldnt just balance both, but I guess being there the whole time supporting him when sometimes his friends abandoned him doesnt count for anything in the end because he just abandoned me for his friends when it started getting tough? (I can see you were obviously hurt with how things ended. They are two things I would like to point out; 1) I can tell you were supportive of him, but at the same time expected in an unconcious way to not be abandoned, and 2) Certain fears of the past took over, so it may have trigger you) Has anyone else experienced this? (Yes, I have. It was very hurtful and painful to go through this) We are not getting back together and Ive been physically sick for days and cant sleep because I feel so heartbroken, (This is normal to experience because of the way things ended. A breakup can make a person feel physical and emotional pain, and often it feels like it will never go away, but in due time it will go away) I really loved him a lot and miss him (Its totally understandable you feel this way because of the connection, memories and all of the things you two shared) and if it couldnt get any worse he told me to get over it because he doesnt love me anymore (He was really harsh here, and didn't show empathy for how you feel.) when I begged him to rethink his decision. (The other reason he said "get over it" was to push you away and to let you know he is firm in his decision) He is one of the most intelligent and caring people I know yet I dont understand. (He might be caring when there's no closeness involved or when he doesn't feel overwhelmed. The moment he feels overwhelmed or that you two are close is where he will behave differently) I just want to hear other peoples stories of maybe similar events or what yall think, Im a pretty successful person but this is tearing me apart.
