Shes unhappy and not changing her mind
A week ago, my girlfriend broke up with me.
Weve been together 6 years. We raise her son together, and weve lived together for 5 of the years.
She ended it because she said she wasnt happy. Shes not happy as a person, and her unhappiness is making her into a bitter angry person. Shes not happy in a relationship with me, but doesnt hate me, thinks Im a wonderful person and deserve the very best but she cant give it to me.
She says shes been unhappy for a year and a half. Let me explain that a year and a half ago, I was unfaithful. I kissed another girl. And my girlfriend found out about it. She ended things, but a month later and a lot of persuading, she said she forgave me and we got back together. Fast forward to now, she ended it saying shes been resentful since then, shes had Happy moments in the last year and half, we bought a house together in that time, but she is unhappy and she needs to end it for herself. She knows this is whats right for her.
In the year and a half, she never discussed the cheating again. I didnt know she was this unhappy. We have normal issues like every couple. But I love her and she told me loved me too and wanted to be with me.
Im crushed. Devastated. And I feel like I cannot cope. It doesnt make sense to me that you would throw away 6 years, and a great person. And not try to work on things.
Ive asked many times, and she said its done. Shes not changing her mind. We are sill cohabitaing until we can make arrangements.

Hey there, hopefully you are doing well. There's a few things I would like to point out;
A week ago, my girlfriend broke up with me. (It's important to respect her decision and to not try to change her mind or begging her to come back)
Weve been together 6 years. We raise her son together, and weve lived together for 5 of the years.
She ended it because she said she wasnt happy. (I believe this means her level of attraction and feelings for you started to fade over time. Women usually look at how things was during the beggining, if you are not doing those things or making an effort to take her out on dates then she will start to not feel happy and lose feelings for you) Shes not happy as a person, (This is another reason, she probably looks for love and happiness in other people) and her unhappiness is making her into a bitter angry person. (This has to do with not feeling happy in how the relationship is going such as certain issues, complacency, maybe she didn't feel like a priority or loved, so this makes her be resentful towards you) Shes not happy in a relationship with me, but doesnt hate me, thinks Im a wonderful person and deserve the very best but she cant give it to me. (It's important to pay close attention to what she said, she is trying to tell you that she is not in a place where she is in love enough with you to invest emotionally in this relationship. This sort of tells me she shut down a long time ago, but kept things inside)
She says shes been unhappy for a year and a half. (The problem with this is that she kept things inside, it keept bottling up and she couldn't resolve things with you.) Let me explain that a year and a half ago, I was unfaithful. I kissed another girl. And my girlfriend found out about it. She ended things, but a month later and a lot of persuading, she said she forgave me and we got back together. (You shouldn't try to persuade or convince someone into getting back together with you because they will come back for the wrong reasons) Fast forward to now, she ended it saying shes been resentful since then, (She jumped back right in the relationship without taking the time to heal and forgive you from what happened. This tells me you both came back too soon, the scars were there, but she never dealt and resolved the issue to move forward. This also tells me she has a hard time expressing herself and communicating displeasure, so she keeps it inside) shes had Happy moments in the last year and half, we bought a house together in that time, but she is unhappy and she needs to end it for herself. She knows this is whats right for her.
In the year and a half, she never discussed the cheating again. I didnt know she was this unhappy. (That's the thing she didn't communicate to you because she was pushing it under the rug and minimizing them) We have normal issues like every couple. (Those issues are probably the reasons that actually made her go through with the breakup) But I love her and she told me loved me too and wanted to be with me. (Thats how she felt in that moment, it only applies when she said it)
Im crushed. Devastated. And I feel like I cannot cope. It doesnt make sense to me that you would throw away 6 years, and a great person. And not try to work on things. (They are tons of reasons that made her unhappy in the relationship, it wasn't just what happened in the past. I understand its hurtful, but its important to take a closer look at those issues you thought are just normal like every couple)
Ive asked many times, and she said its done. Shes not changing her mind. (It's a bad idea to ask her many times or trying to change her mind because it will push her away, all you can do is give her space while she sort through her thoughts and decision about the relationship on her own) We are sill cohabitaing until we can make arrangements.
