She wants to remain friends for a while

My girlfriend of 2 and a half years told me.Sunday she wants to be friends until everyone within our polycule can get along again. She said she also wants to wait until her and I are better people mentally, and then try again later. I agree with her, but damn it still.hurts. Her other partners arent exactly in the mood to.mend bridges with me. They're actively convinced they're better people for her I'm gonna be starting counseling and possibly therapy soon. I want to become a better person for not only her,but me as well. She says shes willing to make to let me make things right with her. I may agree. With most of her reasoning, but damn if it doesn't hurt right now
