hi guys. so i’ve been dating my boyfriend for 10 months now and since the honeymoon phase has gone i can now see some of his issues popping up. the main issues are him being insecure about the relationship and untrusting of me. because i’m his first real girlfriend i think he’s got a lot of insecurities about the relationship. one thing being that i like to go out with my friends or by myself often. i always make time for him but i feel that he gets jealous when i spend time with other people. more on that he gets anxious when i don’t contact him for long periods of time (like an hour or so) when i’m with friends. i always tell him i’m hanging out with my friends but he still seems to worry when i see them and don’t respond even if i have completely justified reasons why i can’t. i love him and he loves me but i don’t know how much i can take and me going to uni this year will only make it worse for him. i am trying to be more understanding but i never feel like it’s enough for him. does anyone have advice for me.

Hi @chxrrypicked I’m gonna try to give the best advice as possible. My ex used to be untrusting as well. And he used to not like when I “chose” my friends over him even when I would give all my time to him when I could. If you give into this behavior now, you’ll most likely be giving into it the entirety of your relationship. I think you need to make it clear that you love him and he should trust you and if you do not answer within an hour or two, it’s not because you are purposely ignoring him or out doing things you’re not supposed to. You’re simply busy which happens. You can’t be on your phone 24/7 and it may get worse when you go away to school. This could possibly be a deal breaker if he can’t understand and be okay with you having a life outside of him.
