Will he come back?
I thought I was over him. I’ve had a few dreams for a few nights about him. Even though we broke up we talk every day. He says he doesn’t want to lose me and doesn’t want me to leave his life. We only broke up cause I got a job that sends me away to different states for months and he emotionally and mentally cannot so long distance. He doesn’t want to be away from his partner for months and months at a time without knowing when they will leave again. His ex got a job like mine and she ended up never coming home and moved half way across the US. he says he’s scared it would happen again and can’t sit and wait for months or a year for me to come home. He wants to hang out just the two of us one last time before I leave for a few months. He said we might get back together one day when I’m ready to settle down more than I am now. Idk if he still likes me or thinks of me or misses me. Or if I should wait and hold out hope that in the future we might get back together one day. And I don’t mean like not date anyone and wait for him. I mean like keep the thought in the back pocket just in case in 5 years we try again type of hope. It’s so hard to tell. Idk if I bring up getting back together after I get home from my 4 month job. Idk if he even likes me anymore. I’m so confused.
I would move on with the idea that you are moving for a short time
Many people do long distance for much longer........
i think his reluctance because past issues and maybe we can hook-up in the future are not significant reasons to break up ......
you need honesty and perhaps closure ... why do so many people not just make a decision and not try to keep people hanging on as a backup relationship .... not fair to you and neither one can move on with excess baggage from the past.

I don't know, seems kind of unfair of him to try and keep you on the line like that. I mean, fair enough if he can't cope with having a partner that has that sort of job. But then he should just let you move on.
