I was going to reply to this this morning but for some reason I kept drawing a blank.
I think I have it now....and I'm probably gonna be bawling once I start typing.
I'm at my Nanny's house in the country. We're sitting in the living room, 2 lamps giving off soft light; enough to see clearly but not too much that it feels intrusive, watching The Voice (her favorite besides Naked and Afraid). She doesn't have dementia anymore so I'm able to talk to her freely like we've always been able to do. I'm probably lightly griping about something and she gives her advice like she's always done (even though she always takes my side, even when I'm wrong) and tells me, "Trace, God knows so don't you worry". She's in one of her moo moo's probably the blue one with the big flowers, tapping her feet to the music on TV. She made some homemade buscuits and they're hot and fluffy and thick, not crispy on the bottom, but just right... so we're having buscuits and gravy (with extra salt, because we both love our salt lol) and she's eating from her favorite silver bowl with a cup of coffee on her side table. We're gossiping a little and then probably giggling about whatever we said. Of course we're talking about Blake Shelton and how he is such a hunk. She's not in so much pain and she's able to walk, even if she's a little slower and she pulls out the old blue cookie tin that she holds letters from my Papa in. Letters from when they first met and when they were courting. She asks me if I want to read one, which is a HUGE honor because no one else has ever got to read them. I carefully choose one and read and her eyes start to glisten over and she talks about how they used to go dancing and all the friends they had and she gets a grin on her face. I tell her I know she was a wild party girl and she laughs out loud and points her finger at me and says, "Now little girl, you think you know, but maybe you don't". and I laugh.....It's time for bed so she gives me a kiss good night and says "Trace, you know you're my girl. I sure do love you". It's definitely my happiest place on earth.
My happy place would be at the top of a mountain, sipping a cup of tea with earphones plugged in. Slow Country music flowing through my soul.
My happy place is at the beach, late at night, with the stars shining and a gentle breeze blowing. Hearing not only the wind but also the ocean waves.
@rakarat
Ironically my happy place is the same setting but at a different time frame. Mine is with a beautiful sun shining over the glistening waters with the sound of the wind blowing and ocean waves crashing accompanied by some passing seagulls in the distance. This is due to my comforting memories of walking to the docks in the early morning to watch the sunrise over the mountain while sitting by the waters and hearing the seagulls fly around the area. Such a calming feeling.
My happy place is the redwoods, or with my loved ones, or a nook filled with soft things and pictures and lights
On the bed, a little sunset, and an afternoon
@fictionjunkie
there's something especially comforting about a nice cozy hotel bed with the curtains closed and the TV playing whatever. No background stress enters this hotel room. It's just you, the softest and most comfortable of sheets and pillows, the outside noise or distracting imagery, and the TV keeping you company helping you settle into your place of peace.
@SaleemF
your words making me crave for it. thank you. 😌
A bookstore too.
In my flat, on my sofa with my roommate and my cats, catching up on Netflix
My happy place is in a forest, refreshing weather, clear skies and with mint ice cream.
Somewhere where I can listen to music without people yelling at me or telling me to turn it off. Somewhere preferably with natural light, and a comfortable place to sit. Where I can draw whatever I want and write whatever I want. Where I can watch dumb gamer YouTubers and doctor who spin offs and maybe play some video games. Where I can hang up some pride flags and be openly me. Somewhere, it doesn't matter where, where me and my friends wouldn't have to hide.
@neatFan3509 go teen freedom 😉😁😎
In the company of friends, who are basically family.
