To be honest at this point it's probably a grave.
@tluper6491
Hey there.. grave is only a happy place when our purpose of life is met properly and after we have lived our life with full potential. I'm sorry you're feeling so down. Hugsss... try to think positive n smile! Take care 😊💕💕
@YogiBear10
Potential doesn't matter when you have a muscle disease that makes it impossible to do anything. I have no purpose in life. I'm literally useless.
@tluper6491
I feel you. You sound like you're going through a lot. Reaching a place of happiness in life must sound pretty unreal right now. I'm sorry.
Ending things sounds pretty good if it's means not feeling so trapped and depressed and numb anymore. But I think it's also good to remember that not feeling any of those things doesn't necessarily mean feeling happy. There's nothing to feel in the grave.
I admire people who still have hope. I don't have much of it myself, but maybe the fact that we're still here means something. I see you right here and I'm kinda in awe that you're still around when you feel so much to write what you did. I hope we're wrong about how see life right now and I hope we can see how wrong we are and I hope you stick around a little longer, stranger.
@thryth
I'm sure you actually can make things better, though. Due to various life circumstances it's impossible for me, I can't work or drive or date or even really leave my house. I'm completely useless. I believe in second and third chances and all that, and that anybody can accomplish their goals, provided their life isn't hindered by some disease or other disability, which my life is. I'm a lost cause. You are not. You still have the potential to pull yourself out of the depths as long as your body works, or even if your body doesn't work, if you have a good support system, lots of friends, somebody who loves you, etc. Due to my circumstances it's impossible to change my situation. I'm a worthless friendless unlovable loser with a disability who can't work or drive and I'm useless to society because of it.
@tluper6491
If you want an actual answer to this thread, literally anywhere except the podunk hick town I'm trapped in.
I'm so sorry, @tluper6491. It was insensitive of me to say so much without knowing what's actually going on with your life, but I thank you still for reading and taking the time to respond. I'm sorry things are like this for you. Difficult seems like a major understatement. :(
Has it always been like this?
@thryth
Oh no, don't be sorry, you couldn't have possibly known and in fairness I don't know your situation either. It wasn't insensitive at all and I didn't take it that way. I just feel due to circumstances my situation is hopeless but there are also people who have it a lot worse. It wasn't always like this. I got sick when I was about 16 and it derailed my life, it's a long boring story but the point is the condition has left me in pretty much constant pain ever since, so I'm very limited in what I can do and things like driving are pretty much impossible. I'm kind of trapped at home because of it. I'll be turning 28 next month and by no means is that old but I feel like my condition stole my youth from me. I can't do anything, I have no friends, I've never had a significant other of any kind or a job, I just stay at home every day on the computer. I've accomplished absolutely nothing of any value in my life and because of the condition I don't have a future to look forward to. I'm very lonely but because I can't drive or work nobody would possibly be romantically interested in me when literally anybody else is a better option. I hate the town I live in because it's a rural farm town and not meaning any offense to anyone who lives in those kinds of towns or likes living there, I personally don't like living here. There's nothing to do and it's boring and all my bad memories are here and I live in constant mortal fear of meeting somebody I went to school with and getting asked about my life. Like what do I say? I'm a failure and loser just like you and all our teachers always knew I would be? I know it sounds silly but it's a horrifying scenario for me. I'm ashamed of my situation and if I tell them they'll tell others and just, ugh. I'll feel even more trapped and useless here. I don't like whining like this but I just sort of wanted to explain the situation more and why I feel like it's so hopeless and there's nothing I can really do, and again please don't be sorry about your comment. You really couldn't have known and your intentions were good.
@tluper6491
I don't know if it will be relatable for you or if it would make any sense to you, but I still want you to watch this TED talk by Muniba Mazari...
@tluper6491
I'm glad I didn't exasperate you with my earlier post!
And wow, the way things are for you sound so incredibly punishing in so many different ways, and you had to go through more than a decade of it now. :( I'm assuming a lot of those days went by with little difference between them and I can see how that must be so soul-crushing for you. Does being on the computer help you escape? Are there some things at home that aren't as dreadful for you?
It's not at all silly to feel that way about having to talk about yourself to people who know you! It's so mortifying! We already hate the way we are and the situation we're in, we don't need other people to judge us any more than we already do.
I don't see it as whining at all! You're experiencing a lot of pain and in more ways than one and you were just expressing that. I appreciate you sharing what you did with me and I'm glad to get understand another human being just a tiny bit better. You helped remind me that this kinds of experiences aren't always that simple and solutions aren't always that easy and it helps to talk and be frank about it for everyone involved. I just hope this exchange has given you something too, even if just a little.
@tluper6491
The disabled is then reborn free of all damages and pain and suffering in a new cleaned and purified body. This is what God promises us and I wholeheartedly believe this. Friend and stranger, I ask that you seek God in this most troubling times as in your most vulnerable state, this is where he wants you to turn to him the most so that He may work his power through you. To become a powerful beacon of hope for others who may or may not share your struggles to see that hope does exist in this world. I am beyond saddened by your situation and pray for better days to come for you with great fortune. However, what I pray the most is for God to come into your life now more than ever and guide you to the absolutely fulfilling purpose that you (not your body) is destined for.
You are more than you current state of suffering. It took me literally years to realize that on my end. I've suffered from various mental disorders (one of which was temporarily losing my memory and forgetting who my wife and friends were which tramautized me for years). I've been through quite the ringer with different situations including a recent divorce and several other factors (not saying that it compares to you whatsoever but to say that we all have suffered in different ways). The thing that I learned once I chose to accept God in my life was that my purpose was beyond my weekly mental, emotional, and even physical (since I have terrible eczema) sufferings. I am meant to reach out to others and share my experiences with them while showing (and introducing to some) where God has come into my life and guided me away from the pit of despair and wishes of death that i was previously in.
I once yearned for the end due to feeling like I had nothing left to do on this Earth but suffer until God came into the picture and showed me that I had indeed a destiny of sorts through his perfect plan. All of my sufferings were necessary to become what He needed me to become. When I share my experiences with other, it comes from a genuine place of pain instead of just some "oh don't worry things would get better....eventually" comment that gets tossed around so much. When I say "I've been there in some capacity", I can actually legitimately reference my past to show people that they're not alone in this world as people seeking the grave as an escape.
But I say to you friend, to seek death now will give you no peace. This was the profound and baffling thing that I learned and what changed me drastically. To seek death is to seek disconnection from everything. And though that may sound excellent because it means disconnecting from your suffering, it will only bring a new type of suffering. One that I got an idea of when I was in the soulless pit of despair awaiting the glowing red exit sign to appear. I'm telling you this because I know the desire is there, "Your story does not end in a depressing montage of daily suffering. No. Your story begins a glorious, motivational, and powerful new chapter that will escalate overtime.
God has a plan for you, and although you won't be able to see any merit or benefit from such a statement right now in your current state (none of us can ever truly see the bigger picture when we're knee deep in crap), it will become clearer for you down the line. Take the time to turn to Hope.
With nothing but love and prayers for better days in your future,
Saleem
My happy place is the National Zoo, near the lions, it's where I first held hands with the love of my life.
She's moved on with her life, and as much as I don't want to I'm starting to try. But my happy place will always be near those big lazy cats.
@floatingstarrylights
Wow! You're a zoo person! I wanna know you more!
@YogiBear10
there
@floatingstarrylights
Leemurs are always so adorable 💕
@YogiBear10
they really are.
I used that coin machine thingy and got the lemur imprint, she got the panda imprint. Im not sure if she still has hers, but I carry mine in my jacket pocket every day.
Ive been getting better about our split so I think someday soon Ill be ready to stop carrying it with me.
@floatingstarrylights
I'm sure you'll be fine soon.. but do u have to stop carrying what you like? Just due to a split?
@YogiBear10
honestly I carry it because it reminds me of her and all the fun we had at the zoo, but the more I hold it and look at it, I start to get bitter over the circumstances of our split. But I'm still so attached to her that I don't want to stop carrying it. I think maybe it would be best if I did though, so we could still remain friends like she wants to
@floatingstarrylights
Don't force anything upon yourself my friend. See what works best for your soul. Whatever you choose, let it make you smile 😊 hugs 🤗💕
@YogiBear10
thank you for being so kind
@YogiBear10 such a good answer🤗
@floatingstarrylights lazy cats
@amicableOcean712
all cats are lazy cats, no matter how big they are
The first happy place looks like my apartment, bed.
The second of my happy places is filled with people, food, horses, etc...
My happy place is the beach on a sunny day with a little breeze. The wave would be crashing against the beach in some sort of chaotic calm. The oceans mischievous order distracting me from the thoughtless insanity within my mind.
My happy place wrote by @jaitor7336
My happy place is anywhere I'm making my own decisions about what to do. I can have a happy place at the beach, in the ocean, visiting a new city, I guess being outside anywhere. Also being with close close friends, the kind you can snuggle with and laugh over dumb movies.
@AveryLove
What does your happy place look like?
*My happy place is the beach where I grew up (I moved to 3 hours away for college, and miss it tremendously). I prefer the beach at night because of how peaceful and tranquil it is. I would occasionally go swimming (I know it's not safe to swim in the ocean in the dark, but in my defense I was a lifeguard and was almost always not alone. I do not recommend it, though, so please don't do i). I also liked taking a walk along the shoreline while the waves crash at my feet and/or sitting on the beach starring at the stars and listening to the waves. It didn't matter if I was alone or with my husband and friends. Just being by the water was enough, it's very calming for me.
@AveryLove
My happy place is a dark cold place where there's no one expert me and alot of rain and thunder, a place where there's no ending road a maze for endless running a place where I'll be able to express my sadness that has become my happiness
It looks like a place so close to nature, away from all the noise, with a book in my hand and just the sound of the waves, a chirping bird or rain pouring on the ground with a soft breeze touching my skin maybe. 💕
To make it happier - i'd have my love beside me in this scenario. ❤️
The mountains. Preferably snowy and forested. I have never had a clear mind until I went to the mountains. It's my tattoo. It only brings smiles and adventures
@impartialPeach6345 My happy place is being out in the rainforest in a hamic soaking up the sun and listening to the birds...
My Happy Place is in Bar Harbor, Maine. I love the forests and the rocky beaches and going downtown and getting some Ice Cream or talking with my Uncle.
