Would you compromise your happiness for the success of the relationship?

Hello, my awesome community!
Compromise is a vital part of our lives. We have the ability to compromise for our family, co-workers, lovers or partners. So, would you compromise your happiness for the success of the relationship and why?

@Akshita0612 With experience, I have learned that compromise is mandatory in any relationship, you can't expect to impose your wishes and beliefs about everything to everyone and have long-term relationships, someone will either give in, live an unhappy life or leave. It's important not to compromise so much that you'll be unhappy. If the outcome is your misery, then it's not worth it.

@AiluraBlaze Agree with you Blaze. It's a two-way cycle, both the people involved needs to compromise equally to maintain a healthy relationship.

i don't think compromise is a good option in any relationship... I believe compromise means the other person is not understanding that's why we have to compromise in many cases..

Any relationship is called healthy relationship when they both are expressive, understand each other , value and support each other...we can't impose something on someone.. But we can discuss find the best possible way to solve that problem without letting anyone to compromise.. That can only happen when we are fully expressive, say whatever we feel..

when we start keeping things to ourselves and take decisions and say it was necessary and had to compomise because that was the best possible way... How can it be a best possible way ...? I don't know.. I believe theRe are so many people and you will find your perfect match too.. . For that we should know first that the person is understandIng or not and discuss or not before taking any decision...

if everytime you have to sacrifice your feeling so called compromise means that you are not with the right person... Because that word shouldn't even exist ..if problem is there then there are many solutions tooo...

Never lose hope and live life happily.. ..and be expressive....

I am willing to find middle ground and a solution that works for us both. In that way I am willing to "reach a compromise". But I am unwilling to "compromise my happiness" for a relationship. There are many forms of compromise so I feel like that needed a mention

@SpareDare That's a great point. Setting your boundaries in terms of what is acceptable in a compromise and what is not.

yes, I would, but I don't think I'll keep on compromising, because I think it's not a good thing to do

Absolutly, as long as it doesn't cross a healthy line obviously.

@Booklover95 Agreed, whatever we do in a relationship we should always make sure it is not getting toxic to us. Excess of everything is bad

I guess to me it depends on the relationship. For example, me being a recovering alchololic, I am not going to compromise my happiness by hanging out with people who just want to abuse substances as a way of dealing with life's problems 24/7. I think for a relationship to be healthy on both sides, it's about mutual compromises.

I have and I do. I finally started recognizing the behavior as unhealthy but when I started to try to speak up for myself it significantly hurt my relationship. I've become so enmeshed in everything that it is really difficult for me to figure out what I want. We have decided to stay together but it has been extremely difficult because we both need to adjust our behaviors.

To put it plainly, if you're not even happy in the relationship, then what are you even doing? Compromising happiness for a relationship implies that the relationship is not working in some way (and you're not happy), and some things need to change in how you communicate and work with the other person. I'm no expert on relationships, but that sounds about right to me.

In short, no. Because a relationship where you aren't happy is off on a pretty bad foot from the beginning
