Article: How To Pick Yourself Back Up After Being Cheated On
"Mairéad Molloy, Relationship Psychologist and Global Director at Berkeley International: “You might feel a variety of emotions, including anger, betrayal, guilt, hurt, helplessness, insecurity, or self-blame.
If you know for sure that your partner’s a cheat and you can’t see a way forward where you can forgive them, it’s sometimes best to cut ties and move on. But that doesn’t mean the bad feelings are immediately healed, says Molly: “People who are cheated on commonly experience anxiety, confusion, intrusive thoughts, hopelessness, trust issues, irritability and anger, feelings of blame and shame, and depression.
“If you have been cheated on, those wounds will take time to heal, and you may require therapy.”
Some things to remember when dealing with the shock of cheating
- Put yourself first, tune into your feelings and try to keep your cool
- Don’t make decisions out of fear in any part of your life
- Make a list of your boundaries and make a safety plan if necessary
- Consider taking a mini-break from social media and ask for professional help if you need it
- Surround yourself with support from family and friends and try out new activities on your own
- Allowing your partner to process their feelings on their own lets you prioritize your own psychological health
- Since you’re moving on, stay connected to your own emotions. Remember that you’re finding closure and healing
- With patience and self-care, you can learn to cope with the pain and find peace after infidelity. Time heals all wounds and in time, you’ll become stronger. And try to remember it’s them, not you."

✨Takeaway: Cheating can cause a range of emotions, including anger, betrayal, guilt, hurt, helplessness, insecurity, or self-blame. It can happen in any relationship, and it's not always a reflection of the person who was cheated on. It's important to acknowledge and validate one's feelings rather than suppressing them.
✨Reflection: Have you ever struggled with cheating in your relationship?

while many seem to love this topic certainly an attention magnet.......but each case is different but this blanket advice misses a lot.
Cheating ( all kinds) IMO is over blown and some consider the smallest of things cheating....... Seldom IMO do happy people cheat........ if there is a void it will be filled ........pretending it all falls on one sets people up for a pattern of misery.
Your partner may cross the line .....but why is never discussed or examined ......... self reflection of "victim" is gone ........just continual blame of the other person. Truth is....... it is between two people...... involving friends and sometimes even professionals tends to taking sides and not being cold hard truth.
It is not a looks thing too many say why think it their looks if only they ......IE lose weight change hair etc....but in reality what was missing was a "connection" either intimate or emotional or both......
seldom did this crack open overnight but builds ....... as people pretend all is well or insert excuse about how busy we are. We place more importance on social status...... and outside stuff... like work which all falls apart AFTER our partnership falls apart. the foundation of your life crumbles it all goes....but no one cares just assume it will hold up,,,,
- quit pretending ....be honest about how you feel what you are missing
- do not let your partner pretend or contort for you it will not last
- LISTEN deeply .... if someone says they are lonely or missing a connection don't say well maybe next weekend we can go out or something tone deaf......
- be there in mind and body ....... think about how moving or divorce or separating finances does not care that you are busy.........
- IF something has happened already........ be honest about where communication broke down blaming and playing victim does nothing.
- OWN your role because if you feel you are "right" as a victim ........ you will make the same steps again in next relationship ........ if many have done this to you what is the common factor.
