Discussion - Realizing that our friends don't grow along side us
As we grow up, our friends grow too. People we've long considered to be close friends grow and change, sometimes in different directions than us. Have you ever experienced this?
Have you lost a friend? Grown in a different direction? Had to "break-up" with a friend because your values and interests no longer aligned?
This can be incredibly difficult.

Well currently I'm going through a change. A lot of my friends backstabbed me. I found out we had a lot of differences. This started when I graduated with my associates degree they did like a 180. At first before I started graduating they were ok friends but once I hit my last year at Junior college that when things changed. They started back stabbing me. One of them even dated the guy that raped me and try to convince everyone I lied about it. Just because she wasn't there when it happened doesn't mean I lied about it. She convinced one of her female friends to go after and date him. Her female friend started violating me while I was drunk and claiming I raped her. That was far from the truth and actually it was the other way around to be honest. I can't really consent when I'm drunk. Things went to a whole new level when they went to the Dean at my school and made a false report against me and almost got me kicked out. During this year I found out that my ex literally never cared for me. He didn't stand up for me and kept making excuses for them and turning the blame around on me. He went from perfect boyfriend to the most selfish narcissistic. I faced a lot of victim blaming and I really geniunely think that they were jealous because I was advancing myself. It all started when I graduated and the timing says it all. I never knew my friends were so jealous of my success of course there is going to be people that tear you down. Also I think they were attracted to my ex. I think it all stems from jealousy. My ex and them always try to make out to be the jealous and they down my appearance a lot. I think since they are the ones tearing me down I think they're jealous one's. I found out how much my ex took me for granted and how shallow he was. He only cared about fitting in and not necessarily me. I got out of that situation. I still have trust issues and I don't invest on friends that much. It's good I found out their true colors now than later.
All throughout high school I've had such a set group of friends that I have always had fun with. Now it's my senior year and to me, they have become their flaws. They become the people I dread to see because I know who they really are. It scares me because it took 5 years for me to discover their real personality that I've grown to dislike very much. It makes me wonder whether being irritated by people you once loved is always inevitable.
