Do you and your partner share the same values?
Do you and your partner share the same values? How important is it?
Values are principles and standards we hold. It's our judgement on what is important in life. Based on their experiences and how they were raised, people will have different views on what is important. Some big values are those concerning religion, honesty, and communication as examples. What are your values?
In a relationship, sometimes these values can be expected of one another without talking. This can have damaging ramifications. We have to remember that not everyone shares the same beliefs. For example, I am always honest about anything you ask me. But someone else might find that lying sometimes can spare feelings and be beneficial. This of course could cause misunderstandings in a relationship if we don't communicate our values. That leads to the question: How important is it for you and your partner to share values? Why?

Hi! Great question! I've been thinking about this a lot lately.
Personally, while I think it's good to have the same values, it's okay if you don't share them all, as long as you accept them. Values are a huge part of someones life and even though they can change, if we don't accept them (and our partner) as they are - it makes things hugely difficult.
As an example, my partner values family really highly - he has such a beautiful one, where as mine are not so high after all - but I also come from an unhealthy household. So I can definately accept his while not sharing them.
Between us both, I think the values we have for our relationships include honesty, communication and trust.
