In love with someone I've never met.
Hello. 3 years ago I fell in love with a certain celebrity, who I have never met. I loved the idea of them so much it took up most of my thoughts. It contributed to my depression, and I would cry every night thinking about them. I felt so wrong for loving this person, but the obsession was so deep that I swear it felt like real love. I'm somewhat ashamed, and at this point it doesn't affect my life that much anymore and I don't cry but I still love them. Has anyone else dealt with this? I even had a crush on someone in my real life who reminded me of this person and I felt like I had betrayed them for having feelings for someone else, which is funny because this person is married and I don't even care.

safe to fantasize about because...
in the mind, it seems there is no risk because...
there is no real relationship except in the mind so...
one can idealize the relationship and fantasize about how great it would be...
but since it never will happen, that could never be put to the test.
yet it seems so exciting because...
it's forbidden, shameful. That creates a lot of powerful imaginary emotion dynamics.
It's often all a vicious fantasy cycle that prevents one from putting from themselves at risk for committing to a real relationship when they can have an emotionally hot fantasy relationship.
But also, it can be healthy to fantisize about a relationship because it helps one explore their interests and feelings (when done knowing it's just a fantasy).

First, I always start with Google for any problem I am trying to solve.

WHY WE LOVE PEOPLE WHO ARE UNAVAILABLE

EXAMPLE:
1) Search https://www.google.com/search?q=WHY+WE+LOVE+PEOPLE+WE+CAN%27T+HAVE
2) Then I would right-click on the Images link at the top and open in a new window.
3) Then I would right-click on the Videos link at the top and open in a new window.
Then I would have 3 Google search results tabs to look through.
I would look for the best ideas from each.
