Being in Love is sharing a special unique feeling you share with one special person. I do not believe one can be in love with more than one person at a time, the feelings, and committment is too deep, too strong. It involves many emotions and characteristics, but simply put it includes: adoration, respect, and trust. It is sometimes putting your partners needs first, but with the security to know when needed, your partner will do the same for you. It is security and a connection, staring into each others eyes, and only seeing that person.

Loving someone is easier, we love people at differnt times in our lives. We love all sorts of things and people throughout our life. Hopefully when it comes to loving people, we love with our hearts, but this is not aleays the case.

@ASilentObserver

In my opinion, being in love is when both partners love each other, and loving someone is when you love your partner

What is the difference between being in love and loving someone?

This is such a wonderful question! It really makes me think about my first relationship and my view over relationships in general now. There is a thin line between being in love with someone and loving someone. I don't like to consider them differently though, for me love is love. I am a hopeless romantic (though practical) so please bear with me xD When you love someone, you really admire their qualities and tbh I disagree that you love someone for no reason. There are a million reasons why you love someone, always, even if you don't realise them. I think it's pretty impossible to just love something for no reason. You love doing something because it energises you, you feel good when you do it. Same goes for when you love someone - you love them because being around them makes you feel good. Sometimes we love someone but don't even talk to them, right? Then, you may love them for how you have projected them to be like. Loving someone is a blissful feeling. You can love someone yet still let them go if needed.

Being in love is tbh the same thing. Both of them are (supposed to be) unconditional. Being in love can, however, mean loving someone to a slightly greater extent. I have personally never been in love so my opinion here will not hold much experience. But I will share how I imagine it to be like. Being in love means that you are ready to spend your entire life with someone, you are ready to do things you may have not considered doing before you met them. It means to be so crazy about someone that it physically hurts you to see them upset or down (though seeing someone you love unhappy gives almost the same degree of excruciating pain).

You fall in love with someone after you have loved them. So we can say they are both kind of interlinked. You love something and gradually you start to fall in love (not necessarily, of course). When you love someone, you feel the need to be with this one person like they light up your life, but when you're in love with someone you truly desire to be with someone after getting to really know them, just accepting them with all their flaws and habits. The person you love is your best friend and the person you are in love with is the person you will marry (or at least spend the rest of your life with). I don't want to talk about unrequited love though haha, that's a different thing and will make this post even longer haha. But I will stick to my main objective, that to me, love is love. I don't consider loving someone and being in love with someone to be different.

I've never really been in a romantic relationship and likely never will be, so my answer to this might not be as well-thought.

I don't think that you have to be romantically involved with someone to love them ... you can love them like a cherished friend or like family. heart WHen you love someone, you truly care for them, their well-being, and how they're doing. smiley

However, when you're "in love", that might pertain, particularly in today's world, to the initial thrill of a romantic relationship ... the "honeymoon period", if you will, where love is blind and both of those involved are first beginning to know the other person. Whatever problems might arise in the relationship typically don't show up until after the honeymoon period of being in love is over ...

There right now.

I love my husband, but I don't think I'm in love with him anymore. We've been going through tough times for a year or more, I was on the brink of moving out once, and if I'm honest with myself I'm just waiting until I get a better job that supports me and my son until I move out now.

For me, loving someone means you want the best for them even if it's not directly beneficial to you. Being in love means you can overlook their quirks and annoying habits as part of the package you love.
