Fixing the relationship

Hello there, my bf and I have been together for 4 years. He cheated on me for a year and a half. When I caught him cheating he lied to my face, and still continues to lie a year and half later. I have told him what he can do to make me forgive him. I have told him what he can do to fix it. But he just doesn't listen to me. It's like he doesn't care or wants me. But he says he does. He says he doesn't want to lose me but won't listen to me. I don't want to lose him.

Unfortunately, only he can choose to change. I think the question may be: Why should he change if you're going to continue being there for him, no matter how he behaves? Respect is so important in a relationship. I hope you allow yourself the respect you deserve and consider that perhaps it is time to set some healthy boundaries that may just help you find the path forward.

I really think you need to set aside this manipulative love you two share and realize your self worth. Your boyfriend's behavior seems set in stone, there's really no telling if trust can thrive in this. He's broken your boundaries time and time again, this isn't working for you clearly. You need to break things off and don't look back. Yes it's going to hurt, yes it will feel impossible, but do not let that hold you down when you're already drowning in the sea. Let go of that rock and rise to the surface, no matter how much pain it will cause now, your future self will be happier and fulfilled in another relationship where you can trust your partner.
