I feel like I’m obsessing over my boyfriends past
my boyfriend and I have been together for just under 2 years and I stumbled across his old texts and photos/videos of him and his ex. we had no reception and my phone was missing so I was aimlessly scrolling around on his and there was stuff like “I’ve never loved anyone like I love you” and stuff like that and it was weird because I’ve always been told it was a silly relationship and that she cheated on him and they dated for 3 months when they were 15. But they had most of their firsts together, and I had my firsts with him, soooo there’s that. I’ve just always thought that I was his first real love and she only really caused him pain but after reading the texts and seeing the photos/videos it didn’t seem like that at all. I guess i could be jealous or it could be my anxiety I’m not sure, surely someone has had similar feelings and can help get me out of my own thoughts. I’m just trying to let go of the fact that he had a relationship before me, doesn’t matter what they did, he loves me more than he has ever loved anyone before. at least I hope haha

It's understandable to feel jealous after reading through messages like that. I feel it would be difficult not to. I feel like if you would look through anyone's past messages with their ex when they were together, it would be similar. Because when we were in that relationship, we weren't aware we would break up and find someone new to love. So, the messages would be lovey dovey in that moment. So, I hear where you are coming from! But now you may focus on the present <3 💛💫

No one ever puts photos and videos of themselves fighting with their partners. What’s not captured in people’s phones often is the actual difficulties and challenges in their relationships.
She was his first… no one else can ever be - but so what? Whatever relationship she had with him, and however wonderful it might have been, it ended. You’re his present. He chose you! If he wanted to be with her instead, he still would be.
Don’t compare your relationship to what ‘might have been’ with someone else. That kind of insecure thought process just fills you with unnecessary doubts, and questions. Instead, focus on making your relationship with him the best that it can be. If he’s hardly thinking about her at all, does it really make sense that you should be?
