CAN A BROKEN FRIENDSHIP BE FIXED?

Honestly, this is something I?ve really been trying to figure out. So now I wanna know what you all feel about this one. Every friendship has it?s ups and downs and that?s actually how it works. Friendship means caring about them and always wanting to see them happy, yea I know that. But what if you?re just trying to keep them happy? You can?t go on doing that right? you deserve to be happy too, isn?t it? It?s hard to see an amazing friendship drifting apart, but it?s harder to realize that none of you is doing anything about it! If it meant so much why are you both just letting it go? It?s already messed up, so what worse could it get? If you really just miss talking to each other like old times, don?t you think it?s worth one last shot?

-Collectedheart

P.S - I'm pretty much relatable into this! Stay strong!

I agree that you should not be the only one trying to keep them happy in a friendship, they shoul also be trying to make you happy. As you said, it's hard to realize that not only are you drifting apart, but no one is doing anything about it. If it is such anamazing friendship, you should definitely give it one last shot. Talk to your friend and tell them how you feel. They may not even realize that they are making you feel that way.

Hello dear, @besttree4085

well I'm really not sure, actually what's going on with you and your friendship.

You might be the one wondering what happened in your friendship when you see a friend drifting away. You can try to see if you did anything wrong, but if a friend is already pulling away chances are they?ve either decided they aren?t going to make up with you or that they forgive you but still believe the friendship is over.

More than likely, you will have to accept that things are changing if your friend is in a different emotional place now. There?s no need to formally end a friendship that has drifted apart. In fact, it?s better to let it drift away, because if you care about the person and want to be friends again, there is a chance that the friendship can drift back together again years down the road. It all depends on the people and life circumstances involved.

If you decide to formally end the friendship by telling a friend you don?t want to see them again, your friend probably won?t argue or try to end things on a kinder note. You?ll just be done with the friendship and it probably won?t come back together again.

One day at a time, you will get there and create a new "normal" for your life. I'll be thinking of you! ::hugs::
And above all, remember to take care of yourself through the process because it can be easy not to. I care about you, and I'm here to talk if you need me.Stay strong. It's hard.. it's really hard but you can do it.
I LOVE YOU!!heart

Thank you. I am not really that good of a person to begin with. And this person put up with me and me being me just ignored that one, pushed him away and when he is finally gone do I understand his importance in my life. I really wish things could change. Everyday I try to communicate with him and I don't get a response. I did a terrible mistake and I understand his need to stay away from me. I actually deserve this. :) thank you again. *hugs tight* I love you

Well that reminds me of a friend I lost few months ago. Actually the opposite thing happened with me. Tried my best to fix it but it was just faded away. Also the sad thing, I even didn't know what was my fault of being ignored, that's the painful part you know? You aren't a bad person at all, don't ever think like that dear. In ourlifetime, we all do some mistakes and learns from it, that's how the life recycles!heart

I'm sorry about everything that went on, but it sounds like you're a beautiful person and trying to find help through a listener is a great step in straightening out your life. Everything heals through time, but having someone to talk to ensures that the pain goes by quicker and you can start your life over again even quicker.

*bear hugs* and take care darling @besttree4085

Broken friendships can only be repair if both persons are willing to compromize. One person must be able to forgive and reach out. Whilethe other must be able to present something concrete on the tableto assure the one who forgives them that they are willing for the friendship to continue.

Yes absolutely!

There is a difference between a friendship that is entirely dead and one in which two people are just drifting apart. If you naturally grow emotionally in opposite directions, your friendship will come to a halt, but there is always the opportunity to revive it at some point.

People who drift apart without a dramatic end will have a better chance of picking up where they left off and continuing their friendship at a future date when both friends are on more equal footing. This happens a lot when one friend moves away, gets married, or has another major life change.

Friends don't always follow the same path emotionally, so sometimes they drift off in separate directions. If this sounds like you and your friend, try to understand where your friend is coming from. It doesn't mean the end of your friendship necessarily, but it probably does mean that things will change. Give you and your friend time to adapt.

I recently lost contact with someone who was my best friend all through high school. The reason? We go to different colleges, have made new friends and she lives 2 bus rides away. Plus, she ignores my texts now. The last text I had from her was 2 months ago, her kindly informing me she had a new number but didn't bother giving me it. It's difficult but things work out that way sometimes...

Hello, I can kinda relate to it! It's been almost 3 months going I had lasttalked with my 7 years so called best friend. Now he doesn't even bother about me, it's okay.

*hugs*

Sometimes when they make you feel like they don?t care, they really don?t.

Get the hint. Sometimes getting no message is also a message. People are busy, you know? Sometimes they don?t make time for you.

It?s all about priorities.

If you?re the only one they don?t make time for, don?t you think you should let them go?
Don?t bother checking up on people who?ve decided you?re not in their picture anymore.
You don?t need to know how they?re doing.
Save yourself the trouble.
Seriously.

No I don't think so.. I've a similar friendship.. We've been friends for almost 5 years.. We fought a lot.. but I always made up with him.. cuz he was the only one friend I have.. but one day he told me that he won't shed a tear if I just went away leaving him.. It just tore my heart.. and now we're drifting apart.. I don't do anything to fix things cuz to him I'm of zero value.. now I'm a stone..

Hello @snowybunny

I am so sorry for your loss and for what you?re currently going through. I can imagine that you must think about him a lot! I'm sending a big hug!
You may never know how you've impacted someone's life until you are no longer a part of their world. It's a sad truth.

In my case, Some friendships, no matter how hard you try, never recover the joy they once had. But if you feel pain of regret or remorse when you think about a lost friend and do nothing about it, you'll never know what might have been.

It?s hard to let go of any friendship, especially one that just sort of fizzles out at the end. But every friendship adds something to your life, so appreciate your friend for however long they were in your life and for whatever they taught you. Every friend teaches us a little bit about ourselves.

To accept that your friendship that has drifted apart, know that you can get closure all by yourself. You don?t need to ?hash it out? with a friend in order to mentally say goodbye. Allow yourself time to grieve, because there will be sad feelings that you?ll need to feel and work through, but don?t beat yourself up about the fact that the friendship is over. Be glad that it happened.

I believe that yeah it can be with time and communication. As long as you are getting along it should be able to be fixed.

@Kash216 *waves*if you?re just trying to keep them happy that's more of a one-sided friendship, isn't that right? However, like I say to everyone - communication is key to making absolutelyanyrelationship work, because without communication we can't build the foundations of a relationship. Now back to the point that you've made - I believe that a broken friendship can be fixed just like a break up can be fixed, it takes time and patience. Friendships are built on trust and once that trust is brokenit is difficult, and at times impossible to restore a friendship, and most of the time, it will never be the same. You know the saying, "Trust is likeapaper once it's crumpledit can't be perfect again you can flatten the paperand try and make it as straight as you want but it will never be perfect."But if you work on trying to get along and fixing things it may turn out to be a better and stronger friendship than it last was. That's my point acrosssmiley

Lots of love,

Rabeaheart
