In need of a pause. Oversharing and thin-skinned. Ranting.

I have a friend who always asks about my relationship (3-years with my boyfriend). She always how it's going and asks questions so that I start oversharing and I start complaining about my boyfriend. I haven't changed my complaints and I'm not angry with him now, just complacent. But she always sees it as I need to be more proactive and aware of his actions that I don't like which also effects me. I've always dealt with it by avoiding it, so I can see why she says this. But I feel like my complaints snowball and she's seen me so upset that I almost cry (it only happened twice in 3 years) so to me it's not a big deal. And then she offers me a few solutions and one of them is to stop complaining about him when we're together.

I really don't mean to snowball about it, but that's the most frequent question she asks when we hang out. I love her and her very being; she's very outgoing and right too. I feel trapped with the question "How are you and your boyfriend?" I get too explainy and don't shut up. I don't know I thought I was sharing with her, but it turns out I was complaining.
