I pushed my best friend away

I started having feelings for my best friend about 4 months ago, but I know he doesn't feel the same way. For some reason, these feelings towards him are making my depression so much worse. I decided to text him the situation and told him that I think it's best that we stop talking for the good of my mental health. He was angry at first but then he said he understood and that he was sorry that he cause some of my depression. Immediately I started to have regrets about what I had done. I pushed my best friend away for some stupid feelings I couldn't get over. I need advice because I don't know what to do anymore. He means the world to me and I miss him

@kPineapple "I think it's best that we stop talking for the good of my mental health" you walked away from him for your own benefit. and now you want to get back to him for your own inability to stay away. ever thought what he might be going through? ever thought what you might be putting him through? think about these questions. i understand depression makes one's energy low. but can depression cause someone to become selfish to the extent that all they think is about their own self? i disagree. depression and selfishness are two different things. sorry if my reply hurt you. all i want to say is depression is not a reason for not being empathetic.

@kPineapple Hey there, the situation does sound complicated. And proud of you for keeping your well-being first. Selfcare is must! And I do acknowledge, it has not been easy for you and him to come in terms with it. Do you think listing out pros and cons of available option might help?
