People that say "women are more nurturing than men." I was blamed for a fall-out with a female friend
hello all,
i am am a young woman and mean no harm. My female friend stopped talking to me, because she couldn't handle me opening up about my problems. What's odd is that she encouraged me to open up, because she said me being private is unhealthy and how friends support each other. I was hesitant to open up, but gave in. Now, she said she needs space from me.
When I told another woman this, she said "how could you scare another woman away? Women are supposed to be nurturing. How is a man goinrg to put up with you?"
It wouldn't let me complete my post.
this woman implied that I was bad for turning
my female friend off, since women are supposed to be nurturing and compassionate. I disagree, because I have very good guy friends that are supportive and never would act like my female friend.
can anyone relate? Am I alone in thinking that some women, like my friend,aren't always nice? Am I weird for knowing some really sweet and sensitive men?my exes didn't have a problem with my issues.

Hey there. I am sorry to hear that you were encouraged to open up only to be treated so rudely. -hugs- You're right. Sensitive men do exist and there's nothing wrong with men having feelings.
Hmmm... this is just bizarre. These 2 ppl said some odd things to you. I wouldn't worry yourself too much over it. The 1st person sent mixed signals. The 2nd person didn't make much sense. I'd find someone else to talk to

hello there.
It must have been hard for you to open up to a another person and being completely treated that way. as for your question it should be "most" but not all.
I have my fair share with guy friends and also female friends and there were son nurturing female friends and male friends as well. I think it depends on the person not the gender.

I'm sorry you were told that. It's incredibly rude, untrue, and frankly, bizarre.
I don't discuss some of my issues with my friends because they don't understand. None of them told me they needed "space" though. I'm sorry she was so hurtful to you.
@2wheelsdown
thanks! I am over it and I think she wasn't a true friend to begin with. I think it's best to go back to my private self....but be open in therapy. ;)

You will meet more caring friends throughout life, too. I hope you can open up with them.

Hmmmmm! Sometimes when people are "scared" away from our problems it can be because they are not in a space to hear and help. Other times it can be because our problems are overwhelming and they feel helpless. Only you can decide whether it was her issues or yours. As for the other woman, that sounds like the silliest thing I have ever heard. Some men are much better than women at being loyal and supportive. Spend time reflecting on how to make you healthy. We all have seasons in life that are more challenging than others, and problems will certainly arise.
