A yeah and a half of continued cheating

Hello everyone,

I’ve been in a relationship with my partner for 7 years. We have a 6-year-old child together and a newborn on the way. Last week, I learned that she has been sexually cheating on me for about a year and a half. I caught her twice during this period, and each time she promised it had stopped — but I recently found out it continued, well she exposed herself by mistake.

I’m struggling because some of the things she said to me during this time have really damaged my self-esteem. She’s told me that I’m not sexually desirable to her the way this other man was, and that has been extremely hard for me to process.

I want to forgive her for the sake of my family, but I genuinely don’t know how. I can’t stop thinking about why she kept doing this and what it means for my future. I feel lost and unsure what steps to take next.

@Diamond71 I can't imagine how you feel or what you're going there. I'm so sorry this is happening to you. No one deserves to be cheated on. Infidelity has no place in relationships and to discover your partner is cheating has got to be heartbreaking. It's more than just cheating. It's breaking trust. Cheating can destroy relationships and tear families apart. In your case, 7 years is a time you've given to this woman. Giving your heart, building a life, and establishing a family. Now you've got children to think about and it's bigger than just you and her. Ask yourself truly-- what are you willing to put up with?

Do you have it in you to stay with her? Are you able to forgive without being bitter? Are you willing to sacrifice your happiness and self esteem? Only you know what you're willing to endure. Only you can decide what you can put up with.

Please know that you deserve the best. You deserve to have someone to love you, respect you, care about you. You deserve to have someone who can be faithful to you and you only. Someone who loves and accepts you as you are. Someone who values you and finds you easy on the eyes. Please know that not all women cheat.

People cheat for all kinds of reasons. But whatever the reason-- it's hurtful and selfish. Something may be missing in the relationship. If you're willing to forgive and make things work for the sake of the kids and the relationship, y'all need to dig down deep and figure out what's missing.

But please know you don't deserve to be disrespected and keep your eyes open. People have a way of revealing who they really are. Remember that. And too, remember your worth! Wishing you all the best!
