Boys don't make sense

I had this guy I dated and I was off and on with him but he is stressing me out lately like I don't know what he wants anymore and he told me he wanted to be a couple over summer he forgot about it when I asked him I texted him hey so I'm gonna leave for the summer unless you want to do what you said he told me he does not remember what he said so I told him good I'm gonna leave then😁👍🏻. I think I should have just told him 🤦🏻‍♀️what he said because sure I did want to have a relationship but at the same time I kinda wanted to leave for summer.
