Dad called me nasty about the paper this morning.
Backstory:
So my mom and I been helping with the church Bible Camp since I was 12. It means I have to be up at 6:45am to be able to leave at 7:45am. On Thursdays Dad does the grocery shopping and gets up also at 6:45am. And Dad takes such a loooong timmmmeeee to reeaaaad the paper we get in the morning it's one of the reasons I absolutely hate it when he's still at the table at lunch time either on Saturdays or during the school year my "work day" ie Wed. The other reasons aren't important for the story. But in comparison I can quickly read the paper and get it over with. Also I have other stuff to do after Bible Camp and I don't have time to read paper after Bible Camp. Espcially not today when I didn't get home until after 3pm.
Story
As the time I'm writing it Thursday July 16. I got up at 6:45am today. I kept trying to get downstairs before Dad because I didn't want to have to argue with him about the newpspaper but Mom kept me in the bathroom after she did my hair so I can "wipe my eyes" and "clean my glasses". So by the time I was out of the bathroom Dad was up. So I went downstairs got most of my breakfast ready and I placed the paper on my side and Dad tried to steal the paper back and I said "you have all day to read the paper I only get now to read the paper now this morning". And Dad called me Nasty, I was being nasty. Which is the entire reason why I wanted to get downstairs first so I could hog the paper first. And I had to wait for him to finish using the microwave so I could make my own coffee using leftover milk from Bible Camp. Then I read the paper seriously Mom should have told him to get up 45mins later then us so we could have avoided that.

Sometimes in family situations, we all need to compromise 💛
@Amanda84 While Dad needs to comproise in this situation. HE has time to read the paper at lunch I don't because I'm was still at the church at lunch time and by the time I got home yesterday (after 3pm) I'm so behind on online things I need to do I'm double tasking by talking to a Listener who I talk to Daily from 3-8 and doing those online tasks. When would I have time to read the paper except in the morning?
Who bought the paper? Can you get two copies?
@Hopeful0001 We don't go out and buy the paper it's a paper that is delivered to our door every day except for the one day of the year they don't do a paper (Christmas). So there's no way to buy a 2nd copy of the newspaper when we would only need a 2nd main section one day out of the 364 days of the year -on Thursday morning of Bible Camp. and home delivery is already very expensive
@Disneywoman you also get digital copies of some newspapers.
@trueconfidant123 1. That requires money now as well 2. w/o Money you only get a limited amount of articles if at all until you limit runs out 3. the stuff online is not going to be the same articles which are in the day's paper that's dropped at the door. 4. I don't have time to read paper online when I have other stuff to do after I got home from Bible Camp and 5. A hard copy is better in my hands espcially when I'm having breakfast at 7am in the morning.
@Disneywoman
Valid. How about you discuss it with your mom? She might be able to help you and your dad find a middle ground.
@trueconfidant123 Trust me there's nothing to discuss because Dad always "thinks he's knows best"
This is the dad who bullied me on the scale in 2016. He also threw lettuce across the counter saying "it's a dirty sink next to a dirty counter" when I was going to make a salad.
He's the one who yelled at me in 2014 about "Never listening" over a pumpkin and he wasn't listening to me to the fact Mom had changed her mind.
This is the dad who once threw my ice tea bottle across the couch when I asked him to open it because he took too long to open it because he is a health freak.
He also more recently throw a chair across the dinning room because I didn't answer his question about my food the other month and Mom had to tell him off.
And there's a lot more stories So does this sound like someone I can talk sense too?
@Disneywoman
I hear you. It sounds like he gets frustrated quickly and tends to overreact. I hope you're able to find a solution soon. Take care.
@trueconfidant123 It was only one day where he could easily read the paper at lunch time *after* returning from the grocery shopping. Instead of getting up at the same time as I was getting up causing the fight in the first place
@Disneywoman
I'm sorry. The situation was definitely avoidable.
@Disneywoman
I guess that is true. I am sorry. My grandpa was picky about his newspapers too.
