Me and my fiance of 5 years recently split up as I find it really hard to speak about my emotions and I find it even harder to feel and understand them. She has tried to help me so many times but there is still a block in my that stops me from expressing them as I don’t have the words. I want to be better for her but I don’t know how to learn to understand. Anybody got any help please? She’s my whole world and I can’t lose her forever

@JLM33

Have you tried working on you without focus on her ?  In  order to feel and express your feelings IMO takes getting in touch with those feelings on your own . Sometimes with out distraction of others in our life.  You might be surprised at what you find.

It is hard to truly see us when we are still focused on things others expect or want from us.  I tried for years and failed and I was unsure of my true feelings.... but when i just did for me found a happy and feelings I wish I could have had for years.  I think my relationships and such would have been better if i did not try to conform to what i thought others wanted.    Sometimes we are holding on to something or someone that is not working for us that makes everything harder like always swimming against the current.

i just think if I couldn’t do it with her then how can I do it on my own, but here I am. I guess I have to figure it out one way or another if I have any chance of getting her back. I am in the process of speaking to people to try and let something out

@JLM33,

it's not uncommon and it doesn't mean that there's something wrong with you.

Have you ever tried to sit down in a quiet space and write down how you feel? Don't think, just let it flow. Or always have a notebook available so whenever a feeling or emotion pops up, you can write it down. It's worth trying, don't push yourself though. Try to make it a habit.
