I can't let feelings in
I met someone who I really like but I can't allow myself to let those feelings in. I push it away because I feel scared. What can I do know?
I'm also worried that the person will get annoyed from that because it looks like I can't decide what I want

The reality is this type of feeling issue can continue throughout life .... we can develop feelings have feelings fade.... and we may not be sure of how we feel and what we want. i hear so many young people that seem to feel wait and see ... is the approach... i understand i did that too but as you get older you will see all the missed chances .... and opportunities to tell someone how you feel or try ... instead of thinking what if down the road .... sometimes it does not work out and someone does not feel the same way but without exploring and defining our feelings how can we be sure when we do meet someone who shares our feelings.... i think knowing our feelings requires some taking risks and exploring if feelings are deep- crush- limerance etc.
I understand entirely I got that way because of a bad relationship that I left. In fact I blush or sorta laugh uncomfortably because I don’t know what to say. Especially if they get really flirty or look at me a lot.
I don’t know if you went through a bad relationship like I did or got your heartbroken. I don’t know if you are just scared. I really think time fix’s things and you have to be patient.
You know kinda like the oldies song “can’t hurry love, no you just have to wait.” I have to tell myself that all the time even though I want answers and I’m stubborn myself. Also you have to consider if the other person went through a bad break up too. Are they ready? Or are they even single cause sometime you just don’t know anymore.
I surprise myself on how I do react around people I like anymore. I still feel so awkward but it is all about risk unfortunately. I try to be as “ platonic” as I can be. Like try giving nice compliments just be friendly.
Maybe ask if they would like to do something with you it doesn’t mean a date at all. Find out what hobbies they like and go out and do that.
Discover each other that’s my advice I’m in the same boat as you are hope it works out.
You are not alone in this 💛. Trust that you are okay just the way you are. Also know, that we go through seasons of life and what is necessary for us now may not always be the case. You are loved :)
