I miss how he used to be
So my boyfriend used to be so so lovey with me and call me cute nicknames all the time and always tell me how beautiful I was and how special I am to him. He would send me random texts to tell me he was proud of me and everything but now it's just changed I feel like he hasn't been doing that at all he hasn't complemented me in a while and it just makes me feel bad. Also he hasn't called me as much cute nicknames. Idk if I'm just being weird about this or if I'm just overthinking about it but I don't really want to talk to him about how I feel because I don't want to make him feel bad. It just makes me overthink a lot and not as special to him as I used to be. Can someone please give me some suggestions? I feel like I can't talk to anyone else.
@ellesies Hello, I’m Keisha. You aren’t overthinking but you have to at least bring these feelings to his attention and give him a chance to acknowledge it. Also, sometimes we get comfortable in a relationship and hit cruise control. Have you spiced things up lately? Done anything out of the norm? Surprise dates? Changed your hairstyle? Try to switch things up and add a date once a month. Give yourself a reason to dress up and build anticipation. So first, have the conversation ask how he feels and “Is everything ok?” See what he’s dealing with first. Hopefully, he’s ok and it was just an oversight. Next, tell him what you like/miss. Then, plan a date as a solution and challenge yourself to spice things up. I don’t like to bring up a problem unless I have a solution otherwise you can be perceived as a complainer.
You also mentioned that you don’t want to feel bad or make him feel bad….that’s the overthinking part. Take things one step at a time. Have the conversation and see how he reacts. You won’t know until you give it a try.
I hope this helps.
@ellesies
You never mentioned how long of a relationship this is .......but in a long term relationships after things become a clear couple / and set in a routine ... the compliments the little nice gestures tone down or they forget to tell us those things... Not that they no longer think them just maybe feel you are confident in the relationship and do not need the affirmations.
have the relationship become set or has something happened? either way i think you might need to have a talk about how you miss that etc.
Expressing your needs is healthy in a relationship, especially as more time passes, so just have a heart to heart and say how you feel. You could maybe also ask if there is anything he would like more of from you like hugs, going on dates, etc. to help the convo be balanced
