I wish...
I wish i was smarter
I wish i was more of an intellectual type.
I wish i was stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I wish i was taller.
I wish i had a more sophisticated sense of "style"
I wish i was more successful due to all the years of work ive put in up to now.
I wish i was nicer, but oilfield and life in general has hardened me.
I wish i was more compassionate and empathetic towards people i care about.
I wish i had more forethought regarding my words and my actions.
I wish i had more money, so that finacial stress for my family and myself was lessened.
I wish i was more physically attractive so my wife was more drawn to me.
I wish i was better at showing/gaining interest in things that i dont care about.
I wish I was even more supportive than i have been in the past and i wish i was better at it.
I wish i had a better personality so that again, my wife would be drawn to me.
I wish i was more honest in the past so that some of the problems im dealing with now may not have happened.
I wish i was a better father to ALL of my children so that i could have the same level of loving relationships with each of them individually.
I wish i was more observant and analytical like my wife.
I wish i loved myself the way i deserve to be loved.
I wish i didnt wear my heart on my sleave.
I wish i had better control over all my emotions.
I wish i was better at recognizing different perspectives of situations.
I wish...
But, with all these wishes and probably many that i have unintentionally left out...it brings me to think about a song by my favorite band that helped me through many hard times in my younger years...Linkin Park: "IN the end". RIP Chester Bennington 💔
@Ryan575
One of my favorite songs as well...
i used to have a list of wishes but realize i am fine as is.. if we were all those things what would we be giving up... ourselves.
@Ryan575 This post highlights a lot of things I long for too. But I also find it interesting that I have some of the things that you wish for (such as being an intellectual type) and I can tell you that those outward gifts and abilities don't have the ability to make us happy, no matter how many of them we have. In my view, the inward states that we long for, like being more honest and regulating our emotions better, have a lot more power over our satisfaction with life. And the great thing about those inward states is that it's possible for them to change. I know it's really hard to be told that those things can change when we've been struggling with them for so long that it feels impossible to escape. Yet there are many stories of people getting better from problems they thought were a core part of themselves and we have to live with the hope that the same thing can happen to us. It's a long and hard process, but I hope you stay determined through it all. 💕🫂
