So, I'm gonna start this thread with a little bit of back story, as it's been a while since I've posted here.

I downloaded this app nearly a year ago to ask for help regarding my wife and her behavior. I have been with my wife for 10 years come August, married for 4 of those years. We have a young son, 5 years old, who deserves nothing but the best for him.

I have gone through multiple classes, anger management, therapy, a dietitian, and even a marriage councilor. I have requested that she do some of the same (outside of marriage counciling) as I believed it would help our relationship, but she refused.

She has stopped taking care of our son, and herself. We both work, but when I'm gone and she's supposed to be watching him (homeschooling, cooking, helping with chores, etc) she gives him a video game console, tells him to leave her alone, and goes to sleep until roughly 10-15 minutes before I'm supposed to return from work. She also sleeps roughly 8-9 hours a night so lack of sleep isn't exactly a concern to my knowledge.

I have taken some responsibility to help her with these issues and have began watching my son even more frequently (even losing some of my own sleep to help her out.)

She has also lost interest in taking care of herself, stopped bathing, brushing her teeth, and wearing clean clothes (sometimes wearing clothing for up to 5 days in a row)

I have raised these concerns on this group before, and was told to help her with her responsibilities and help her seek counciling, which I have insisted she do, all of which she absolutely will not do, she has declined again and again, and I'm coming to a breaking point.

I love her, and I love my son, and that's why I can't watch her go down this path, she's had a tooth fall out, she's began ignoring our son, and she won't acknowledge that she's doing any of this. I feel like I'm going crazy, and I can't tell if I'm just not able to see something here.

I've discussed separation, it's the last thing I want but I feel like I can't continue on like this.

My son deserves better. I just didn't want to admit that "better" might have meant his parents split up.

Thank you for reading, I appreciate the support.

Sounds like severe depression  and it may become where it is not safe to leave son with her.  It is past asking her to get help but insist. i know many do not want to be tough about it but the more time you wait you are risking worse things...

the lack of hygiene and excessive sleep are big red flags.

I fully agree. I'm just not certain how to deal with this. I guess I'm just more worried about losing my son as the state I live in mostly leans into the mother getting custody. Like roughly 80% of cases. Not sure how to proceed.

@anonyMoon878,

are there any close family members or close friends that she trust that would be able/willing to have a serious talk with her. Without judging or telling her what to do. People she might open up to, good listeners.

Her mother is a narcissist, and her father reports basically everything back to her. My wife cut off most of her friends, so most of the ones remaining are my mutual friends who I introduced her to. She has self isolated herself to me and the people in our household, and that's it pretty much.

@anonyMoon878,

hmm....

How about writing her a loving kind letter, like whatever happens, you love her for who she is. Don't hand it, send it by mail. She likely will not respond but it might touch her heart. Little acts out of love.
